Webster Industries acquires Action Equipment Company

Tiffin-based manufacturer Webster Industries has expanded by acquiring Action Equipment Company. Both companies produce vibrating conveyors, among other types of process equipment. Although Webster's headquarters are in Tiffin, it also operates facilities in Meridian, Mississippi and Portland, Oregon, employing more than 300 people nationwide. Action is also based in Oregon, employing 35 workers in Newberg. Webster was founded in Chicago, Illinois nearly 150 years ago, but relocated to Tiffin in 1907. Action was founded decades later in 1972, now led by a team of two brothers, Andrew and Dan LaVeine. Andrew LaVeine is the current President and CEO. "It is an exciting merger, one in which both companies strategically complement one another," LaVeine said. "Action's team is passionate about its strengths, and looks forward to continued marketplace growth alongside Webster." There will be no layoffs and no name changes- Action is still Action, Webster is still Webster. Because both companies are employee-owned, they'll operate as a team of owners beginning this month. "The blend of the Webster Operating System with Action's strong technical abilities will create significant value potential for vendor partners, customers and communities where we operate. Since its conception in the 19th century, Webster has focused on "American materials, American labor and American pride." By acquiring another employee-owned American manufacturer, they're following through on that mission.
