H-L's Elmore co-player of the year in D-III

For four years, Hopewell-Loudon's MaKayla Elmore dominated teams on the court. In her senior season, coming back from a knee injury that derailed her end of the season last year, she shined once again.The 6-foot-4 Chieftain, who is committed to play college ball at Clemson, averaged 20.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.8 steals and 2.1 blocks per game as she was tabbed the Division III all-district co-player of the year Wednesday night, according to the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.She shared the player of the year honor with Willard senior Mckenna Stephens (17.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg).Elmore was the only local player to get first-team honors in D-III. On the second team was Carey's Sadie Arend, who averaged 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for a surging Blue Devils squad.Honorable mentions included Hopewell-Loudon's Olivia Zender, Lakota's Carlie Foos, Carey's Alaina Tiell and Upper Sandusky's Kaidance Iles and Jenna Kurtz.In Division II, it was no surprise to find Bellevue senior Cory Santoro as player of the year. She shared the POY award with Napoleon's Taylor Strock.Santoro averaged 28 points per game, along with 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 4 steals for the Lady Red, who were once again SBC Lake champions.Elsewhere in Division II, Clyde's Sidney Hohman was a second-team selection. Hohman recorded 14.7 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Fliers.Bellevue's Emma Bollinger was a third-team selection, as she averaged 9.7 points and 6.7 rebounds.Honorable mentions included Bellevue's Brynn Vogel, Clyde's Kristen Harrah and Columbian senior Serena Ingalls. BC's Pifher earns POY, 2 other locals on 1st team in D-IVIn Division IV, three local players were named first-team all-district, while 13 total dotted the teams and honorable mention.Buckeye Central had another excellent season on the hardwood as it was led by junior Claudia Pifher. Pifher averaged 19.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.8 steals per game as she was player of the year in Division IV.She shared the award with two others – Toledo Christian's Madison Royal-Davis (25.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 8.0 apg) and Minter's Ivy Wolf (20.3 ppg).Joining Pifher on the first team were teammate Taylor Ratliff and Seneca East do-it-all senior Jessica Bowerman.Ratliff recorded 12 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3 steals per game for the Bucks, while Bowerman averaged 14.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3.3 steals for the Tigers.New Riegel junior Aubrey Bouillon and Old Fort freshman Macie Miller were second-team selections.Bouillon led New Riegel to the district semifinals, averaging 13.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 4 steals, while Miller had a standout freshman campaign, tallying 17.4 points per game. She also averaged 3.5 steals.The lone third-teamer was Buckeye Central's Emily Siesel, who averaged 13 points, and 5.2 steals.Honorable mentions included New Riegel's Sydney Hohman and Olivia Schalk, Old Fort's Jordan Reineck, Seneca East's Makenna Depinet and Alexis Hicks and Calvert's Frannie Webb.
