Findlay woman faces wrongful death lawsuit

FINDLAY — Tiffany Robertson, 35, of Findlay is facing a wrongful death lawsuit following a July 2020 car vs. motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of of Jeremy Martinez, 35, also of Findlay. According to court documents, the civil suit drafted by Martinez's estate claims four counts against Robertson — wrongful death, pain and suffering, survivorship and punitive damages. "Jeremy M. Martinez's death was a direct and proximate result of Defendant Tiffany P. Robertson's negligence, gross negligence and/or recklessness," the complaint states. The complaint places focus on Robertson's statement at the scene of the accident, obtained by the State Highway patrol, that she had consumed alcohol about two hours before the accident. The estate is seeking $10 million in compensation for damages. The complaint reads, "On Count One, Two and Three judgment in favor of Plaintiff and against Tiffany P. Robertson for compensatory damages in the amount of Five Million Dollars ($5,000,000.00). On Count Four, judgment in favor of Plaintiff and against Tiffany P. Robertson for compensatory damages in the amount of Five Million Dollars ($5,000,000.00)." The civil case will see a jury trial Sept. 20 at 8:30 a.m. in Hancock County. Robertson was indicted by a Seneca County Grand Jury on Feb. 24. A warrant was issued at that time. She was arrested by the Seneca County Sheriff's Office March 10, charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and then released on bond two days later. An arraignment for the criminal case is pending for March 24 at 10 a.m.
