Harper, Warriors dominate Rockets

MORRAL – The first inning was scoreless between Mohawk and Ridgedale Wednesday in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference opener for the Warriors.That was the only inning Mohawk didn't score.In the end, the Warriors trounced the Rockets for a 14-2 league victory.The Warriors (2-0, 1-0 N10) blasted 14 hits as Aubrie Harper tallied four of them including two home runs. She drove in three runs.Mohawk also got three singles and two RBIs from Paityn Clouse, Marah Gillig doubled, singled and drove in a run, Toria Phillips hit two singles and drove in a pair of runs and Bailey Sheets finished with a triple and two RBIs.Sheets fanned 11 in the circle in a complete game. She gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits, while walking just one. Senecas outlast FlyersNORWALK – Calvert's Selah Moyer had a big day at the plate and so did the rest of the Senecas as they slipped past Norwalk St. Paul 11-10.Moyer had five hits, including three doubles, as she drove in three runs for the Senecas (2-0). Frannie Webb doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Caitlyn Borer singled twice and drove in a pair of runs. Maddie Schumacher singled twice, Hannah Miller doubled, singled and drove in a run and Brooklyn Brown doubled and drove in a run.The Senecas led 6-2 after a five-run top of the third, but St. Paul plated seven runs in the fourth to take a 9-8 advantage. Calvert scored a run in the top of the fifth and then plated two in the top of the seventh to get the win.Moyer was the winning pitcher with four innings of relief of Kate Rombach. Moyer gave up six runs (one earned) on four hits. Rombach went three innings, allowing four runs on six hits. Tornadoes bounce back for 15-4 routAfter dropping a game at Mohawk Tuesday night, Columbian shrugged it off quickly. The Tornadoes hosted Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division rival Norwalk Wednesday and jumped all over the Truckers with a 6-0 lead after two innings. They finished the game with a five-run sixth to win 15-4. The Tornadoes (3-2) compiled 18 hits as Koryn Morlock had four of them. She lined three singles, doubled and drove in four runs. Bri Landers (3B) and Kenadie Sherman (2B, 2 RBIs) each had three hits, while Haileigh Kutscher added two singles and drove in four runs, Gracie Chester homered, singled and drove in a pair of runs, Kennedy Riley singled twice and Kaitlyn Bates doubled and drove in a pair of runs.Kutscher was the winning pitcher, going 4 1/3 innings. She gave up four runs (one earned) on seven hits. Blue Jackets run-rule Old FortNEW RIEGEL – New Riegel had the bats working Wednesday as it totaled 13 hits in an 11-1 five-inning Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win over Old Fort.The Blue Jackets (3-0, 1-0 SBC River) had five players with two hits. They led 5-0 after three innings Wednesday, before Old Fort plated its one run in the top of the fourth. New Riegel then ended the game with a six-run fifth frame.Katie Dryfuse (3 RBIs), Gracie Goshe (RBI), Jenna Gabel (RBI), Lizz Walter (RBI) and Aubrey Bouillon all had two hits for the Blue Jackets, while Jordan Hohman doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Lauren Gabel and Kayleigh Lininger each singled and drove in a run.Lininger tossed a two-hitter in the circle, allowing a single run in five innings of work. Plymale's 4 RBIs fuel RamsUPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky had the bats going Wednesday in a home game against N10 rival Wynford.The Rams scored a run in every inning, including a six-run third to open an 8-1 lead en route to a 12-2 six-inning victory.Hannah Plymale led the charge at the plate with a home run, a triple, a single and four RBIs. The Rams also got a double, two singles and an RBI from Jenna Kurtz and a double and two singles by Jenna Clary.Liv Gier was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on four hits as she fanned four in six innings. Redmen hold off Blue DevilsCAREY – Trailing 4-1 entering the seventh inning, Carey tried to make a comeback against Bucyrus in N10 action.The Blue Devils plated two runs, but that was all they could manage in a 4-3 defeat.Bucyrus plated two runs in the first inning and single runs in the second and sixth frames.Caleigh Rister, who was the winning pitcher, led the Redmen at the plate with a home run, two singles and two RBIs.Carmen Conigy had a double, a single and two RBIs for the Blue Devils. They also got two singles from Mackenzie Simons and Mary Racheter had an RBI.Simons took the loss, allowing four runs on 10 hits, while fanning five and walking four in seven innings. Rister struck out 12 as she gave up three runs on eight hits in a complete game. Lakota gets by St. Joe 12-10KANSAS – It was quite an offensive show for Lakota and Fremont St. Joe in a SBC River Division opener Wednesday. The teams combined for 25 hits and 22 runs as the Raiders held off the Crimson Streaks, 12-10.Lakota led 12-7 after six innings, but three runs in the seventh made things interesting for St. Joe, but it couldn't come all the way back in the end.Emylee Herr had four of the 13 hits for the Raiders as she doubled and singled three times, while driving in a run. They also got a home run, a double and three RBIs from Mekenzie Rathburn, a double, a single and an RBI by Kerstyn Carr and Racquelle Kirian, Maisey Zelman, Grace Secord (3B) and Savana Ranzenberger all had a hit and an RBI.Harmon Grace was the winning pitcher, allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings of relief. She struck out seven walked three. Carr started, going three innings. She gave up four runs on four hits, while fanning four. Hampton's 2 dingers propel Chieftains by PanthersBASCOM – It was a good start to league play for Hopewell-Loudon Wednesday as the Chieftains took care of visiting Sandusky St. Mary 4-1.Taryn Hampton had a little bit to do with that as she blasted a pair of home runs, singled and drove in a pair of runs. Shea Harper added a homer and a single for H-L, while Izze Beidelschies lined a pair of doubles.H-L led 3-0 after two frames and added an insurance run in the fifth.Abbey Yarris was the winning pitcher, giving up an unearned run on two hits in five innings of work. She struck out three and walked one. Beidelschies pitched two frames of relief, allowing a single hit, while fanning three. Big 3rd inning fuels ClydeCLYDE – Clyde erupted for four runs in the third inning, which proved to be enough Wednesday in a 5-1 SBC Lake victory over Perkins.Taylar Gray had two hits for the Fliers, while Skylar Colvin added a double and Kendall Bailey, Maddie Dukeshire, Sami Friend and Kinsley Taylor all had a hit.Colvin got the win in the circle, giving up a run on five hits in five innings. She fanned six and walked just one. Chargers zap Fliers 4-1CLYDE – Clyde continued its rocky start on the tennis courts Wednesday with a 4-1 loss to Edison. With the loss, the Fliers are 0-3 this season.In singles play, Edison's Lincoln Meredith blanked Andrew Kauble 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, while Nate Spence beat Grant McMaster 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2. Clyde's lone win came at No. 3 singles where Mat Jackson defeated Noah Proctor 6-1, 6-4.At doubles, the No. 1 Chargers team of Noah Pulaski and Collin Smith defeated Sean Raby and Kyle Flewelling 6-0, 6-2, while the No. 2 duo of Otto Berckmueller and Marcus Medina topped Jackson Coley and Aidan Krintzline 6-2, 6-3.
