Fostoria boy dies in single-vehicle crash

BOWLING GREEN — A Fostoria boy died Thursday morning when the vehicle in which he was riding crashed in Troy Township, northeast of Pemberville, the Wood County Sheriff's Office reported.Cameron Fredritz, 7, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place on Bradner Road, near Sugar Ridge Road, the sheriff's office said in a news release. Nathaniel Rivera, 26, was transported for medical treatment, as were the boy's mother, Monica Epley, 30, of Fostoria, and Epley's daughter, Brielle Fredritz, 6.Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said the last registered address for Rivera, who was driving the vehicle, is in Monroe, Michigan.The news release said a single-vehicle crash with injuries was reported shortly after 8 a.m., Thursday, and an initial investigation indicated the vehicle left Bradner Road and struck a ditch culvert.The crash remains under investigation, the news release said.A letter from Fostoria Elementary School principals Kelli Bauman and Kori Bernal was emailed to parents and guardians of Fostoria City Schools Thursday afternoon, reading:"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that two of our students were involved in a tragic car accident, in which one student did pass away this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and to those who know and love them."Our school's crisis response team is currently working in a calm and compassionate manner to assist our students and staff as they cope with this tragic news. School counselors, as well as other community agencies, are and will continue to be on hand to support students in the days to come."We request that you continue to send your child to school.
