Ruth S. Dore

Ruth S. Dore, 98, of Tiffin, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at The Willows at Tiffin. She was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Tiffin, to John and Alice (Russell) Sacksteder. On May 22, 1946, she married Frank T. Dore and he preceded her in death. Survivors include her three daughters, Kathryn (Rex) Fiske of Toledo, Jean (Anthony) Vargo of Tiffin, and Mary Jane (Edwin) Blaha of Independence; a son, Frank T. (Nancy) Dore III of Tiffin; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild; and three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Damm, Margaret Merkle, and Jane Kleinhenz. Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Tiffin Calvert and studied at De Sales College. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and started and volunteered at Betty Jane Thrift Shop. Ruth enjoyed traveling the world, going on cruises, reading, partaking in the Nifty Fifty bowling club, Penthouse and numerous bridge clubs and was an excellent cook. Her funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating and will be live-streamed at www.tiffinstjoseph.org. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from noon until the time of the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools or Heartland Hospice.
