Taking herbs Victorian Summer Tea

TIFFIN — After a year's hiatus caused by the pandemic, Tiffin Historic Trust is to host its summer tea at its headquarters in the Grammes-Brown House at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 21. The program is "Herbs, Herbs, Herbs." Local botanist and newspaper columnist Susan Carty plans to describe the wonders of herbs – their varieties, qualities and versatility - from medicinal benefits to culinary attributes. Not only knowledgeable about growing herbs and other plants, Carty enjoys experimenting when incorporating them in her cooking and baking. The garden behind the Grammes-Brown House will be open and guests will be able to see some of the herbs described. Tiffin Historic Trust members and friends will serve tea refreshments on Miss Rosina Brown's family china, including her fancy teacups. Those wishing to tour the Victorian-era home can browse the rooms before or after the event. The program is open to the public and as an incentive to join the Tiffin Historic Trust, members are eligible for a 10% discount on their ticket.
