TU to improve community college transitions

Tiffin University will be one of 14 colleges and universities to help improve student transitions from community colleges, a release from the university states. TU has joined the newly created Ohio Consortium for Transfer Pathways to the Liberal Arts. The consortium was established by the Council of Independent Colleges and the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges and funded by a grant from the Teagle Foundation and the Arthur Vining Davis Foundation. The program — which will begin in September — is to help community college students with transferring to four-year institutions, specifically with the loss of credits during the transfer process that some students face, the release states. This can make obtaining a degree significantly longer. "Tiffin University is proud to be a part of this consortium," Lillian Schumacher, TU's president, said. "We look forward to working with our community college colleagues to provide clear paths for students to complete their bachelor's degrees, first in these select areas as well as others into the future." Participating community colleges include Central Ohio Technical College, Clark State College, Columbus State Community College, Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College, Lorain County Community College, North Central State College, Sinclair Community College, Stark State College and Terra State Community College.
