Hopewell-Loudon tech students receive recognition

BASCOM — At Hopewell-Loudon's regular Board of Education meeting on August 11, a number of students received recognition for demonstrating "a commitment to Chieftain Pride" while maintaining good grades and participating in extracurriculars. Among the students were the new members of the Hopewell-Loudon Tech Team and six students who recently completed drone flight training. Each student received a certificate of recognition at the meeting, and the new Tech Team members earned their team shirts by logging 17 volunteer service hours over summer break. The Tech Team saved the district nearly $7,000 by cleaning and testing the schools' Chromebooks. In total, the team tested 823 laptops, as well as removing reusable parts from old Chromebooks. The team also inventoried and prepared 240 new Chromebooks for the upcoming school year. As for the drone pilots, Hopewell-Loudon School received a donation of a Federal Aviation Administration registered drone, which half a dozen students trained with. The flight training included a solo flight with multimedia tasking, learning OHSAA drone rules and learning to file flight plans.
