Baumann donates to 4 local charities

Over the past three months, Baumann Auto Group in Tiffin has given $25,000 to four local charities in an effort to support the community through this unprecedented time in history. Baumann has a total of seven locations, including the Chevrolet-Buick-GMC dealership on Market Street, and together, the group has donated a total of $200,000 this summer. The charities the Tiffin location gave to include No One Fights Alone, Morrison House, FACT and First Step in Fostoria. Each charity received $5,000 with the exception of Morrison House, which received $10,000. Each Baumann location individually picked the local charities they wanted to support in their own market areas, based on the experiences and values of their salespeople. In Tiffin, the team had a personal connection to No One Fights Alone, an organization that supports cancer patients as they undergo treatment. Morrison House provides transitional housing and support for individuals and families preparing to maintain permanent housing. FACT (Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment) is another charity to help support cancer patients, and First Step in Fostoria provides support to survivors of domestic violence. "We know people need help right now. Times are tough," said John Demith, sales and marketing representative and public relations manager at Baumann Auto Group Tiffin. "This is our way of reaching out to help people get through this." This was the first year that Baumann gave out charitable donations in this fashion. Every year, the dealerships have a Big Charity Raffle, which has so far given out over $1 million. This year is the raffle's 19th year in action; it focuses on multiple charities and also features a car giveaway. But these donations were separate. "This is the first year we're doing something like this," Demith said. "What a wonderful way for all of us to learn about charities that have helped each of us out." In addition, Baumann gave $5,000 to Tiffin-Seneca United Way this year to help out with pandemic relief. Even despite new car sales being lower than usual due to a market lack of a certain computer chip used in most vehicles, Baumann wanted to help its community. Demith said the dealership is doing a lot with its used vehicle lineup and service department in the meantime. Demith knows the auto group and the Baumann family will continue to give charitably in the future - the raffle will surely continue, and the group is always looking for new ways to give. "We're all in this pandemic thing together," Demith said.
