Rose & Co. Mercantile to open in downtown Tiffin

In just two weeks, a new boutique will open on South Washington Street. Rose & Co. Mercantile, owned by Tiffin-area native Kate Hade, will feature locally-produced, handmade and environmentally-conscious items including home goods, lifestyle products and body care items. Hade spent several years after college traveling the world, living in Europe for several years before returning to her Seneca County roots. She named her shop after her grandmother, Rose Ann. "My grandma was really my role model," Hade said. "She instilled in me a knowledge and passion for cooking, designing, hosting and entertaining, all of which are inspiration for the types of items I will be sharing with the growing community of Tiffin." Rose & Co. Mercantile is located at 134 S. Washington St. in downtown Tiffin, and will open on Friday, Sept. 10. "I wanted to open this business because it has always been a goal of mine to be a part of something to better our community and share my style with others," Hade said. "My grandma was always very involved here in Tiffin, and she would be so proud of me for doing something I love. She always pushed me to keep working." Among the local goods and luxury gift items Hade will sell are hand-poured candles and soaps, hand-woven baskets, Ohio crafted teas, syrups and spices and other hand-selected housewares. "It's such a rewarding feeling to be able to offer this type of shopping experience to the people of Tiffin," Hade said. "The downtown atmosphere is the perfect place to do that."
