Seneca County finalizes November ballot

With all write-in candidates now certified after the August 23 filing deadline, the Seneca County ballot for the upcoming November 2 general election is officially complete. The last day to register to vote is October 4 until 9 p.m., with early voting starting the following day. Candidates for several open positions are running via write-in — the Seneca County board of elections certified nine, while surrounding counties have also certified several. Notably, all five candidates for the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center governing board are running as write-ins — the Board of Elections suspected they decided ahead of time to do it that way, as it is more difficult to acquire and deliver petition signatures in rural areas. "This is typical with them," said Lori Ritzler, Deputy Director of the Seneca County Board of Elections, at their meeting on August 26. "We will probably see this again in two years." The board also discussed asset allocations — which is to say, the number of polling machines that will be at each voting location in the county. Seneca County has a total of 185 machines, and the allocation plan has remained the same as it was for last November's election. On September 2, the board will meet briefly to approve the list of poll workers and the training required for them. They'll also meet on election day, November 2, to settle ties. Then, after the election, on November 17, the board will certify all votes and perform any necessary recounts. A partial list of candidates is provided below.
