Norwalk soccer teams dominate Clyde

NORWALK — The Norwalk High School girls soccer team dominated visiting Clyde in Wednesday's 12-2 win over the Fliers in an SBC Lake Division match at Contractors Stadium at the Warren C. Whitney Complex. With the win, Norwalk improved to 3-1-1 and 3-0 in the league. The Truckers are now 34-0-1 as members of the Lake Division dating back to the 2017 season. In Wednesday's victory, standout Nyah Daniels put up more big numbers. She scored five goals and assisted on four others en route to extending her career goal total to 127. Also for Norwalk, Hannah Steffanni and Kassidy Temple each scored twice and had an assist, while Abby Koenig had one goal and two assists. Summer Moehlman and Joscey Thomas each scored once and Mia Strong added an assist. Norwalk is off until a key SBC Lake matchup at Perkins on Sept. 15. The Pirates have finished second to the Truckers in each of the past three seasons. BOYS SOCCER Norwalk 13, Clyde 0 NORWALK — In the first match of Wednesday's doubleheader, the Trucker boys also cruised to an easy victory over the visiting Fliers, as they lit up the scoreboard early and often. Spencer Colahan had four goals and Erik Rangle-Negrete had three goals and three assists as the Truckers improved to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the Lake. Also for the Truckers, Cameron Shoop had two goals and three assists, Jose Negrete scored twice, and Mason Gamble had one goal and two assists. Omar Dominguez rounded out the scoring for the Truckers, as Juan Martinez added two assists and Corbin Koelsch and Kynan Sparks each had one assists. In goal, Bryan Sommers made two saves in the shutout win. Norwalk will host Vermilion at 7 p.m. on Monday.
