One vying for Council President

There is one candidate seeking the position of Tiffin City Council president this General Election on Nov. 2. Bridget Boyle initially moved to the Tiffin area to attend Tiffin University to play volleyball. Boyle came away from TU with a bachelor's degree in business administration. "I am a true Ohio native, growing up just outside of Cleveland," Boyle said. "Not only am I a Browns and Buckeye fan, I am also a Dragon fan." Following graduation, Boyle claimed Tiffin as her new hometown and has remained there ever since. She has lived in Tiffin's downtown for the past six years. Boyle has served on council for the past two years, having been appointed to serve as the First Ward Councilperson. "This has been an amazing opportunity for me to connect with community members in our great town of Tiffin," Boyle said. "Tiffin holds a special place in my heart and I am passionate about our great community," Boyle said, regarding what initially made her go for a position on the council. Throughout the 11 years she has lived in Tiffin, she said it has been amazing to witness the growth and positive development in the city. "Being a member of the city council was a great opportunity to help continue these enhancements, while keeping the traditional charm that originally drew me and many others to our community," she said. Boyle said while serving on council, she has enjoyed being part of critical conversations, decisions and projects. "When the opportunity arose to run for council president, I reflected on my past two years serving as the First Ward councilperson. I am very proud of the collaboration and developments we have accomplished as a city," she said. "It would be an honor to transition into this leadership role where I feel my skills can be applied even more effectively." While serving on council, Boyle said there have been many projects she has felt honored in being a part of and bringing to fruition. One such accomplishment was in July 2020 when council approved the implementation of a DORA to the area. "This initiative has helped a number of businesses increase their profits, especially due to effects of the COVID-19 shutdown," Boyle said. "Additionally, it has had a positive impact on the atmosphere in our downtown, which has made us unique to the surrounding cities in our area." Moving forward, Boyle said she hopes to encourage further conversations about developing housing options. "As the developments and enhancements in our city have been wonderful, this has attracted a significant number of families and individuals who want to live in Tiffin," Boyle said. "We are now experiencing the 'growing pains' of our increased population. "I believe it is important that we continue to research and choose the right housing options for Tiffin as we evolve." In addition, Boyle said, if elected as council president, she hopes to shine a light on the area's homeless population. "I will work towards building an incredible network with local leaders who are involved in these organizations as well as volunteer opportunities and awareness of community outreach," Boyle said. Speaking directly to the voters, Boyle said she would be honored to "have your vote" for president of Tiffin City Council. "As someone who is passionate about the continued success of Tiffin, I assure you that I am dedicated to making every effort with council and other organizations to do so," Boyle said. "Tiffin is an exceptional gem — it's important we recognize our accomplishments and future goals as a community."
