TC girls, boys headed to regional

FINDLAY — Columbian's girls ended two points away from a runner-up finish while the boys all ran at least a season-best time Saturday on the way to taking fourth.It all worked, as both squads of Tornadoes advanced out of the Division I district meet to this weekend's regional in Tiffin.The top three girls teams and top 12 runners in that race earned regional berths, while the boys meet advanced the top four teams and top 16 runners.Findlay edged Columbian 90-92 for second in the girls meet. Six of the seven runner-up Trojans are seniors while TC has just two seniors.Annalyce Bowles keyed Columbian by running seventh (20:16.74), Kelsie Weingart claimed 15th (20:39.19), Grace Blonde (20:54.3) and Dallas Pol (20:54.89) finished 20th and 21st, and Caleigh Aigler took 29th (21:31.85).Tornadoes Abbie Felske (33rd, 21:41.02) and Makiah Gurney (46th, 22:53.9) also competed.Ashland fended off Columbian 93-110 for third in the boys meet.Alex Albert's 13th (17:09.4) led the TC charge. Brian Siesel backed him with a 16th (17:16.72), Carter Fittro clocked in 19th (17:28.51), Cole Newlove claimed 25th (17:55.1) and Joaquin Perez finished 37th (18:31.56).Luis Martinez (52nd, 19:12.36) and Immanuel Mamphey (71st, 22:17.01) also hit the course for Columbian.Albert, Fittro, Perez and Martinez all turned in personal-best times, while Siesel, Newlove and Mamphey recorded their best times of the season. Blue Jackets clog top five for district titleFINDLAY — Jacob Clouse and Brandon Gillig ran 1-2 and Zach Zoeller added a fourth Saturday to help push New Riegel past Old Fort 61-93 for the Division III boys district title at Owens Community College.The top five teams and top 20 runners all qualified for this week's regional meet in Tiffin.The first three Blue Jackets made sure New Riegel didn't have to worry about moving on. Clouse crossed the line in 16:48.81, Gillig finished in 16:54.47 and Zoeller ended in 17:09.46 to get New Riegel going.Joseph Tiell clocked in 22nd (18:34.14) for the Blue Jackets and Cade Haman took 35th (19:06.39). Blake Theis (45th, 19:17.04) also ran for New Riegel.Garret Havens (18:07.33) and Daniel Steyer (18:09.42) ran 10th and 11th to key the runner-up Stockaders.Aaron Wilson added a 15th (18:15.56), Parker DuBois took 28th (18:45.29) and Carter DuBois came in 36th (19:06.61).Alec King (40th, 19:11.06) and Gabe Smith (49th, 19:31.57) also hit the course for Old Fort.Carey claimed the fifth and regional team berth with 116 points. Miller, Stockaders claim district crownsFINDLAY — Old Fort's Macie Miller beat 2020 state runner-up Sarah Reinhart by 27 seconds for the individual championship, helping the Stockaders slip past Margaretta by a point Saturday for the Division III girls district crown at Owens Community College.Miller crossed the line in 18:55.63 while Reinhart took second in 19:22.93 for the Blue Devils.Hannah Tackett backed Miller by capturing 14th (21:05.08), Rayanne Benner ran 17th (21:20.14), Cameran Cleveland took 21st (21:34.1) and Elizabeth Straub ended 26th (22:03.57).Kristen Baker (55th, 23:39.21) and Audrey Dymond (69th, 25:12.0) also ran for the Stockaders.The top five teams and top 20 runners earned trips to this week's regional at Tiffin.Carey missed out on a trip by six points, finishing sixth with 132 points.Hopewell-Loudon ended seventh (168) and Mohawk took ninth (202). Morris, Mendez gain regional berthsOWENS — Upper Sandusky's Hope Morris and Fostoria's Jalicia Mendez each earned a regional berth Saturday at the Division II girls district meet Owens Community College.The top four teams and top 16 individuals all qualified for this weekend's regional at Tiffin.Upper Sandusky ended seventh in the team standings with 183 points. Fostoria did not field a full team.Morris topped all area efforts by capturing 13th (21:11.78) for Upper Sandusky.Macy Mewhorter added a 24th (22:32.41) for the Rams, Ellison Niederkohr took 44th (24:22.06), Lauren Baker came in 54th (26:38.73) and Kathryn Barrett ended 59th (27:24.67).Kyana Crum (68th, 29:03.49) and Livian Niederkohr (72nd, 31:54.02) also competed for Upper Sandusky.Mendez crossed the line 16th (21:32.44) for Fostoria, and teammate Emily Salisbury ended 61st (27:42.54). Season ends at district meet for Clyde, BellevueGALION — Clyde and Bellevue saw their boys and girls cross country seasons end at the Division II district meet Saturday at Amanns Reservoir.The top four teams and top 16 runners in each race qualified for this weekend's regional meet in Tiffin.Clyde's boys took seventh in their meet with 187 points and Bellevue scored 219 for ninth.In the girls meet, Bellevue ended seventh with 182 points.
