Erasmo "Ed" Guerrero

Erasmo "Ed" Guerrero, 71, of Findlay, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay. Ed was born Nov. 27, 1950, in Harlingen, Texas, to the Eduardo and Luz Maria (Canales) Guerrero. He married Esther (Nava) Jan. 3, 1972, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she survives in Findlay. Survivors also include his mother, Luz Maria Guerrero of Texas; a son, Erasmo Guerrero Jr.; a daughter, Mari Guerrero; Mia Maricruz, whom he raised; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Maria Elena Islas, Enedina Guerrero and Evangelina Portales; and a brother, Eduardo Guerrero Jr. As Ed and Esther were farm workers, Ed labored at the Evan Lynch farm of Old Fort and Esther at Kenneth Haack farm in Tiffin. They met at a social event for teens of farm workers of Seneca County. As a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel of Findlay, he was a Cursillista and was involved in prison ministry with Joe Grevencamp. A member of the Guadalupe Society, he took part in many ways as a lector, communion distributor, leader of the group and a special moment when he portrayed Santa Claus for Our Lady of Guadalupe Fiesta. As an accomplished runner, he finished the Columbus Marathon twice. He participated in the Toledo and Cleveland marathons and other running events all over northwest Ohio. He solely completed a personal marathon from his hometown, La Feria, to greet and pay homage to the Virgen De San Juan Del Valley, Basilica in San Juan, Texas. He moved to Findlay in 1972 and began his job at Dow Chemical, then moved on to Ball Metal Corp. and later retired after 40 years. Ed was preceded in death by his father, Eduardo Guerrero. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow the services Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
