Woman dies in SR 53 crash

BUCYRUS — A Curtice, Ohio woman died in an accident involving a Tiffin man on SR 53 Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Ohio State Highway Patrol Bucyrus Post responded to a traffic crash on SR 53 in Tymochtee Township, according to a press release from the highway patrol. Tabatha L. Cascadden, 41, of Curtice was driving southbound on SR 53. Thomas Miller, 29, of Tiffin was driving a tractor-trailer northbound on SR 53. Cascadden traveled left of center, striking the tractor-trailer and traveled off the right side of the roadway, according to the release. Cascadden was ejected from her vehicle and was later confirmed dead at the scene. A nine-year-old child was buckled in the back seat of the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. The child was first taken to Wyandot County Hospital and was later transported to Children's Hospital in Columbus. Miller was also transported to Wyandot County Hospital as a precaution, the release states. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Upper Sandusky Fire and EMS, Wyandot County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
