Mark Eugene Powell

Mark Eugene Powell, 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at his home in Nevada, Ohio. Mark was born Sept. 24, 1950, in Findlay to Raleigh O. Powell Jr. and Elizabeth Catherine Logsdon. He was once married to Gladys Santiago, and she survives. Mark is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Seth Marko) Powell of San Diego, California; two granddaughters, Josephine Eleanor Marko and Iris Raleigh Marko, both of San Diego, California; three brothers, Karl (Karen) Powell of Upper Sandusky, Tom Powell of Carey, and David Powell of Upper Sandusky; and two sisters, Rose Whisler of Dubuque, Iowa, and Barbara (David) Wolber of Forest. Mark was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Anthony Powell; and sister, Catherine Giron. Mark graduated from Liberty-Benton High School in 1968 and attended Ohio Northern University for two years before joining the U.S. Air Force. Mark worked as a computer programmer for 16 years and then as a civilian contractor for the Air Force until his retirement. During his retirement, he continued to work on the Powell Family farm, tending to his garden and providing his family and friends with fresh produce. Mark always tried to make the world a better place and he loved his grandchildren dearly and spoke about them frequently. Mark's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Steve Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions for Mark may be made to Upper Sandusky Community Library, and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S.
