Good Shepherd offers early tour of new medical facility

The new 7,000-square-foot medical facility being constructed on the campus of Good Shepherd Home, 725 Columbus Ave., in Fostoria, drew glowing reviews during Friday's "Dusty Shoe Tour" for the public."You come in and you see this absolutely gorgeous facility that will serve so many people in the tri-county area," U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R-5) said during his Friday visit to the area.When the building is finished and open, which is expected to be in February, it will include a primary-care physician's office operated by ProMedica, a hospice partnership between Good Shepherd Home and Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice and office space for Good Shepherd employees."What a beautiful space," Mayor Eric Keckler said. "This is big for the community."Good Shepherd Home Executive Director Chris Widman said the $1.6 million project has come through on schedule and on budget."Clouse Construction has stayed on pace throughout," Widman said, noting the building managed to escape delays that the coronavirus pandemic has commonly caused.Widman said discussions about the addition to the campus arose in 2018 after the death of Good Shepherd's medical director."We wanted to attract a primary-care provider to our facility," he said, noting that the medical services will be available to the public as well as Good Shepherd residents.ProMedica, which owns and operates ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital, became that provider, and it will occupy 4,000 square feet of the building."We're excited to be coming out here," said Tom Borer, vice president of operations for the hospital.
