Rebecca (Worland) DiGregorio Stocking

Rebecca (Worland) DiGregorio Stocking, 59, passed peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022. The daughter of Linda (Burks) and the late Don Worland, Becky's independence, strength and love of life were evident from an early age. She could get all six of her siblings laughing at her antics and storytelling. As a life-long asthmatic, Becky learned about advocating for her own health with doctors and other caregivers, who were often impressed by her knowledge and mostly appreciative of her confidence in describing what she needed. She never let illness slow her down or stop her from doing what was important to her. Her vitality outshone every physical challenge she faced. An Ohioan, Becky attended Tiffin Calvert High School and was active as a cheerleader, choir member, a frequent performer in plays and earned a Superior in the State Science Fair. She attended Hiram College, then Lake Forest College, Illinois, earning her BA in psychology in 1985. Becky also received her M.Ed. from The University of Toledo in psychology and community agency counseling. Professionally, Becky was an Illinois State Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, working first at Community Youth Network in Grayslake. In 1991, she became the owner of Becky DiGregorio and Associates, LLC, a private practice of counselors, social workers and psychologists in Long Grove, Illinois, retiring in 2018. Becky was a fierce advocate for the clients she served, especially the children who had been sexually molested or physically abused. She was appreciative of many long-time clients who trusted in her professionalism, perceptiveness and kindness. In the course of her work, she was called on as an expert witness in trials, balancing deep knowledge of her clients with her understanding of her field. Becky was a master of color and creativity. That included her fashion choices that were always original, bright and flattering; her artwork (painting, tile, resin) that contained vibrant colors and whimsical surprises such as shark's teeth or shells; the warmth of her home; or her make-up, done to perfection. She had a spirit of playfulness that could engage any young child she encountered and a calming nature that could rock that same child to sleep. Her heart and her life revolved around family and dear friends. Her daughters, Jessica and Molly, along with her husband, Kent Stocking, were at the center of that love, and then it radiated out. Becky and Kent were married in Lake Tahoe in 2011 and embarked on world travel adventures to Australia, on a European River Cruise, to Iceland and to countless U.S. destinations including Seattle, West Palm and Ponte Vedra, Florida. Their love was strong and inspirational as they each provided dedicated care and support for each other, each making the other laugh truly in the good times and in the bad. Becky took joy in Jessica and Molly's years growing up in Gurnee and Grayslake and was delighted in their interest in establishing their adult lives close by, leaving them countless goofy daily messages, figuring out the most perfect and endearing gifts and truly standing as a rock for them both. Becky is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Kent Stocking; daughters, Jessica DiGregorio and Molly (Richard) Porters; stepchildren, Trevor (Christie) Stocking, Courtney (Scott) Burgess and Carly Stocking (Nate Hamilton); grandchildren, Brooklyn Stocking, JD Stocking, Lyla Stocking and Addison Porters; mother, Linda Worland (Ken Stirneman); siblings, Mary (Keith) Napier, Jan (Heith) Kaiser, Joe (Annette) Worland, Anne (Lars) Jenner, Paul Worland (Deirdre Mylod) and Julie (Michael) Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Suzanne (Mickey) Carusillo and Maren Seefeldt; dearly loved nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by Roger DiGregorio, the father of her girls, and Liza Roper, her best friend. She was predeceased by her father, Don Worland; maternal grandparents, Robert and Molly Burks; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Stocking. A memorial service will be Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. The family will receive visitors from 1-4 p.m. with the memorial celebration beginning at 4 p.m. (central time). To show love and support for the health of others in attendance, all will be required to wear masks upon entrance into the funeral home.
