Morrison House back to serving community

After a complete rebuild of the interior of the building, The Morrison House is once again open to serve the community. Located at 107 W. Perry St., the Morrison House is a transitional home that provides support, stability and nurturing for individuals and families who are in need of housing. The facility is operated through New Housing Ohio. The facility was reopened on Aug. 27 following a fire that took place in June 2020. The fire caused the facility to be gutted and the interior to be completely rebuilt, according to Heather Pollick, regional manager of New Housing Ohio. The 17-bed facility currently only allows women and children. Pollick said adults must be completely vaccinated for COVID-19. The facility houses individuals with a documented disability and takes in individuals from four counties: Seneca, Sandusky, Wyandot and Ottawa. Pollick said the interior has been completely updated with appliances and there is no smoking allowed on the property. The interior has stayed true to its original architecture, Pollick said. "The home and updates are beautiful," she said. Pollick said she has appreciated the support from the community. "The support has been amazing and we are glad to continue the work," Pollick said. The Morrison House, which welcomed its first resident in December 2012, was named after Kenneth and Anna Morrison, who provided a home for 50 boys and girls from the Junior Home Orphanage. At the time, the Community Task Force of Tiffin worked to acquire the property with New Housing Ohio.
