Calvert to present 'Frozen Jr.'

This weekend, Calvert Catholic Schools is to present "Frozen Jr." Performance dates are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the high school, 152 Madison St. Tickets can be purchased at the high school. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students under 18 years old and seniors 65 years old and older. Under the direction of Brett Welly, the popular "Frozen" tells the story of the townspeople of Arendelle and its royal family during one summer. As the princesses play, Young Anna goads Young Elsa into using her magical powers to create ice and snow, but Queen Iduna reminds them that magic must stay secret. Later that evening, the sisters create a magical toy snowman named Olaf. Later, on the day of Elsa's coronation, the castle gates are opened and as guests arrive, Anna bumps into the charming Prince Hans, and both of them slam into Kristoff, a local ice harvester, and his reindeer, Sven. Later, Anna finds Hans, and the two immediately fall in love and decide to marry. The elated couple asks Elsa for her blessing of their marriage, but she refuses. As tensions rise, Elsa accidentally shoots ice into the ballroom, terrifying the guests. Unknowingly setting off an eternal winter, Elsa flees and Anna runs out to find her. Benjamin Schalk, Austin Young, Ava Kerschner, Mena Osborn, Claire Schroth, Emma Marben, Emma Collins, Brad Sherk, Andrea Orr, Allison Ott will perform as Oaken Family/Townspeople/Hidden Folk/Castle Staff. The Snow Chorus/Summer Chorus is Emarie Huffman, Baylee Prenzlin and Felicity Yeakle. The backstage crew are Weston Wuescher, Maddy Longo, Nohema Galvin, Morgan Roth, Kurtis Riehm; handling lights are Lee Morgan, Lucas Recker, Jacob Marben and Jacob Osborn; and on sound are Conner Roberts and Daniel Herring.
