ProMedica confirms Fostoria doc's suspension

The public relations department at ProMedica in Toledo confirmed via email Wednesday Fostoria doctor Michael Badik has had his medical license suspended for at least one year. "The prescribing practices of Michael D. Badik, DO, were recently investigated by the Ohio Board of Medicine," the release states. "As a result of that investigation, his license has been suspended for a minimum of one year, effective April 9, 2022. "The practice is in the process of communicating with his patients about continuity of care." ProMedica directed Badik's patients to reach out to the practice at 419-436-6680. The suspension occurred after a citation was handed down by the State Medical Board of Ohio in February 2021. The citation was issued "based on the allegations ... of eleven specified patients, when the doctor inappropriately treated and/or failed to appropriately treat; and/or departed from, or failed to conform to, minimal standards of care for similar practitioners under the same or similar circumstances," a consent agreement published on the state medical board's website reads. The actions may have violated the provisions of the rules of the State Medical Board of Ohio, "whether or not actual injury to the patients is established," the agreement goes on to say. The citation and consent agreement do not specify what the complaints made against Badik were, nor do they confirm the identity of the 11 patients mentioned. Badik may be subject to a $10,000 fine and/or probation, according to the consent agreement.
