Egbert treats victims with dignity and respect My late husband I were victims of an armed robbery several years ago at our business near downtown Tiffin. As you can imagine, this was a horrific experience for both of us. Besides the physical and emotional trauma we suffered as victims, we were apprehensive about going to court and being in the same courtroom with the accused robber. While serving as Seneca County Prosecutor, Ken Egbert Jr. brought the armed robber to justice, securing guilty pleas in common pleas court to multiple felony offenses. This was accomplished without the additional emotion trauma for me or my husband having to testify and re-live those horrible moments on the witness stand during a trial jury. Ken Egbert Jr. treated us with dignity and respect as victims of crime. He made sure we provided our victim input to the court in asking for a lengthy prison sentence for the violent crimes committed against us. As a result, the armed robber was convicted in Seneca County Commons Pleas Court and placed behind bars with a 21-year prison sentence. We were told by officials in Columbus that it was a thorough, astounding conviction. At every point in the court proceedings, Ken Egbert Jr. kept us advised of our constitutional rights as victims and consulted with us regularly to ensure our victim input was considered for a just outcome in the sentencing of the armed robber. We appreciated Ken Egbert Jr.'s commitment to seeking justice in our case and in other criminal cases he has prosecuted by treating victims with dignity and respect, ensuring their input is considered in the sentencing of felony offenders in common pleas courts. Candidate for judge Ken Egbert Jr. will bring this same commitment to seeking justice to the bench as the only candidate for judge with 32 years of legal and trial experience in common pleas courts in Seneca County and 40 other Ohio counties. He will uphold the constitutional rights of victims of crime and persons accused of crimes. Everyone in the courtroom will be treated with dignity and respect, and cases will be judged strictly on merit, balancing justice for all. John King Tiffin Our civic duty Voting is our civic duty. Participating in elections is one of the key freedoms of American life. Voting, volunteering and getting out to talk with community members is very important, especially in rural communities like Seneca County. In Seneca County, we take pride in our local communities and in deciding who should represent us. In the past few years, we had some very close elections, so it is important to know that every vote counts. Unfortunately, Adam Smith, candidate for Seneca County Commissioner, stated at the Tiffin University candidates night that he didn't vote in a republican primary in 14 years because he simply was too busy with life. Additionally, Adam Smith claims to be a "conservative republican." We don't understand how Adam Smith can claim that he is a conservative republican. He has not voted in a republican primary election in 14 years. This should be a cause of concern for all local republican voters and elected officials who campaigned, advocated, volunteered and voted every election year. He had the ability to vote early via mail or in person as well as on election day. It is puzzling to hear Adam Smith say he will be active on our behalf as commissioner when he couldn't be bothered to perform one of our most basic fundamental rights. Our goal is not to attack Adam Smith, but to state the facts. As local republicans, we know that in our community, some people want to run under the Republican ticket because we are a strong Republican county. We encourage you to vote for individuals who have a conservative record, who dedicated their time to support Republican values and who were engaged in civic duties and participated in the election process. Bill Frankart is that person. Bill is conservative, dedicated to our local values and has the experience necessary to lead our county. Please join us in voting for Bill Frankart on May 3.
