Laura Jane Sherick Jurrus

Our loving mother Laura Jane Sherick Jurrus, 93, went to her heavenly home Saturday evening, April 23, 2022, surrounded by her family. Laura, a lifelong resident of Fostoria, spent the last 10 years under the loving care of her daughter, Janet Kline, and her husband Mark. Laura entered this world Jan. 28, 1929, in Findlay. She was preceded in death by her parents Gertrude (Johnson) and William Sherick. Laura graduated from Fostoria High School in 1946. She married Duane Jurrus March 15, 1948. She spent her life caring for her husband and family. Laura was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be fondly remembered by all of her grandchildren. Laura and Duane celebrated 64 years together until his death March 12, 2012. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and William Sherick, and a sister, Nancilee Crawford. As a member of Eagleville Church of Christ, she enjoyed helping the church in any way she could. Laura also enjoyed having her family attend with her whenever she could, especially her grandchildren.Laura was a talented seamstress, making her own children's clothing when they were younger and completing two wedding dresses for her daughters. She was also known for her pie making skills: apple, cherry, lemon, chocolate and mincemeat to name a few, which her family greatly anticipated eating at all our gatherings. Her cupboards were always loaded with jars and jars of homemade canned goods from her husband's garden and fruit trees. The family got to enjoy so many delicious meals around her table and she loved a packed house. Laura will always be remembered as a loving and giving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who put the needs of others above her own and would be present to help her family at any moment needed. Her presence here on earth will be greatly missed, but we know as she rejoices in heaven with her Savior, she will be there to greet us one day and in that we have comfort. Laura is survived by her four daughters, Carol (Phillip) Raimer of Central Florida, Jennifer Rosendale of Columbus, Patricia Jurrus of Fostoria and Janet (Mark) Kline of Tiffin. In addition, she was blessed with six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Yoder of Fremont. Visitation is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home. The funeral will start immediately after visitation at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
