TOLEDO — Farrah Gaulden figured in three of Columbian's six wins and the Tornadoes placed in every event Friday en route to capturing the Blue Division crown at the Toledo Whitmer Nancy Erme Relay.Columbian powered past Bedford 130-105 for the Blue Division title.Gaulden captured the 100 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (49.75) and anchored the shuttle hurdle team (1:11.82) to victory.MaKaylee Kidwell, Samara Eddy and Mariam Al-Zakwani joined her on the relay.The Tornadoes also claimed the high jump relay (14-0), pole vault relay (26-6) and triple jump relay (88-10 1/2).Lexi Smith (4-10), Ella Kerschner (4-8) and Dallas Poll (4-6) competed in the high jump relay.Audrey Buskirk (9-6), Eddy (8-6) and Gianna Busdeker (8-6) competed in the pole vault relay.Caitlyn Free (31-9), Al-Zakwani (29-1 1/2) and Eddy (28-0) competed in the triple jump relay.Runner-up finishes went to Abbie Felske in the 1,600 (5:40.0) and the 4x100 Ironwoman relay team of Marissa Dunn, Alexa Gibson, Addie Kreais and Jenna Bonnell (1:00.91).The Tornadoes got thirds from the 4x400 team of Smith, Lydia Cole, Free and Mackenzie Davis (4:24.71), 4x800 team of Caleigh Aigler, Makiah Gurney, Ali Woessner and Annalyce Bowles (10:32.91), distance medley team of Aigler, Davis, Woessner and Poll (14:04.96), shot put relay team (80-8 1/2) of Bonnell (30-0 1/2), Kreais (25-4 1/2) and Gibson (25-3 1/2), and discus relay team (256-4) of Bonnell (91-1), Gibson (83-5) and Dunn (81-10).Smith ran fourth in the 400 (1:00.97) and Kidwell tied for fourth in the 100 (13.1).Other fourths came from the 4x200 team of Free, Cole, Gaulden and Smith (1:51.8) and the long jump relay team (42-7 1/4) of Davis (16-3 1/4), Al-Zakwani (13-6) and Mia Blust (12-10).Columbian got fifths from Davis in the 200 (27.55), Felske in the 800 (2:41.57), Bowles in the 3,200 (12:45.04), and the sprint medley team of Kidwell, Cadence Feasel, Mia Blust and Cole (2:04.15).The 4x100 team of Free, Cadence Feasel, Blust and Kidwell ended sixth (54.27). Newlove claims hurdle crownTOLEDO — Jack Newlove captured the 300 hurdles Friday to lead Columbian to 11th at the Toledo St. Francis Knight Relays.Findlay beat St. John's Jesuit 119-98 for the title in the 14-team event. Columbian scored 36 points.Newlove won his hurdles race in 41.33 seconds.Jack Koerper ran fourth in the 400 (53.1) for TC and Xavier Mathewson claimed fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.7).Sixths went to the 4x1,600 relay team of Cole Newlove, Alex Albert, Teddy Owens and Joaquin Perez (20:30.83), shot put relay team (84-1 1/2) of Michael Ross (45-1 1/2) and Decker Devore (39-0), and discus relay team (236-5) of Ross (124-8) and Devore (111-9).The pole vault relay team (19-0) of Mitch Scheiber (9-6) and Trent Miklovic (9-6) ended eighth. USHS boys 3rd, girls 5th at Bob Royer InviteNORTH ROBINSON — Both boys and girls Colonel Crawford teams won their own invite Friday night as the boys topped South Central 124-94, while the girls won 185-92 over Lucas in the Bob Royer Invite. Locally, Upper Sandusky's boys claimed third (88) and the girls came in fifth (63). Mohawk's boys were 11th (28) and the girls placed ninth (30). In the boys meet, Upper Sandusky had two wins as Owen Mawer claimed the 300 hurdles in 4.18 (meet record) and Ashton Vent took the 3,200 in 10:18.07. The 4x8 team took second in 8:45.93 and so did the 4x4 team in 3:36.73, while Vent was second in the 1,600 (4:44.96) and Collin Bils was runner-up in the shot put (42-9 ½). And the 4x2 came in third (1:36.41). No names of the relay runners were available. Mohawk's Zaiden Fry won the pole vault in a meet-record heigh of 15-8, while also winning the 4—yard dash in 5.03 seconds. Mohawk's 4x2 relay finished fifth (1:39.79). On the girls' side, Upper Sandusky's best finish came from the 4x4 relay team in a time of 4:27.27. Third-place finishes came from the 4x2 (1:55.29), Madi Ratliff in the 100 hurdles (17.22) and Sydney Ham in the shot put (34-5). Ham also placed fourth in the discus (99-8 ½). Two other fourths came from Elexys Miller in the high jump (5-0) and Jenna Wenger in the 300 hurdles (50.76).Mohawk's Kaylynn Maybee took third in the high jump (5-0), while also placing sixth in the 1,600 (6:01.25). Mohawk's 4x8 (11:54.49) and 4x4 (4:40.09) both placed fourth and Addison Horner cleared 7-6 in the pole vault for fifth. Mendoza's walk-off 1B lifts Gibsonburg by CalvertGIBSONBURG — Calvert took a 2-1 lead over Gibsonburg in the seventh inning Friday, but the Golden Bears responded in the bottom half of the inning. Ansley Fleming led off by reaching on an error before scoring on Jenna Bloomfield's single. Then with two outs, Karley Mendoza hit a walk-off RBI-single to give the Golden Bears a 3-2 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win.Bloomfield also homered in the first inning for Gibsonburg, while Jackie Harlach doubled and singled.Mara Mangiola (RBI) and Kate Rombach each tallied two hits for the Senecas, while Selah Moyer hit a solo home run to lead off the fourth.Bloomfield was the winning pitcher, allowing two runs on six hits in a complete game. She struck out 10 and walked four. Moyer suffered the loss. She gave up two unearned runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings of relief. She fanned five and walked two. TC outlasts Sandusky 14-13 in 9 inningsSANDUSKY — Columbian survived a seven-run inning for Sandusky Friday as the game went into extra innings.Both teams scored a run in the eighth, but it was Columbian that notched a run in the top of the ninth and held on for a wild 14-13 SBC Lake Division win.The teams combined for 32 hits and 10 errors as TC started the game well with a six-run first frame. TC led 9-5 through five innings and then took an 11-5 lead in the top of the sixth before Sandusky took the lead with a six-run sixth.Gracie Chester had a day at the plate for TC, going 4 for 5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Haileigh Kutscher added three singles and drove in two runs, while Jolene Cook tripled, hit two singles and drove in a run, Kenadie Sherman (RBI) and Alexis Caldwell each had two hits and Bri Landers doubled.Kutscher got the win in the circle, allowing six runs on eight hits in 8 1/3 innings. She struck out five and walked three on 124 pitches. Fox's 5 RBIs fuel Rams' 17-1 routUPPER SANDUSKY — Upper Sandusky jumped all over Carey Friday with six runs in the first inning and the Rams didn't slow down in a 17-1 whipping of rival Carey in Northern 10 Athletic Conference action.The Rams (11-5, 6-2 N10) scored in all four innings they batted as Bailey Fox led the way at the plate. She homered, doubled and drove in a game-high five runs. Brooke Swavel chipped in three singles and an RBI, while Hannah Plymale (RBI), Olivia Gier and Payton Kennedy (3 RBI) all tallied two hits and Alyse Swartz ended with a double and an RBI. The Blue Devils (8-5, 6-2) managed just three hits off Gier as Makenzie Simons, Rylee Row and Julia Brodman all singled.Gier went five innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits. She punched out nine and didn't issue a walk. Row took the loss, getting just one out in the opening frame. Raiders squander opportunitiesNORTHWOOD — Lakota out-hit Northwood 12-6 Friday, but ended up losing the game 7-3.Northwood scored two runs in the first inning and led 3-1 before Lakota tied the game with a two-run fifth. But then the Rangers plated four runs in the fifth to win.Lauren Bennett tallied two doubles and a single for the Raiders. They also got two singles and an RBI by Aubrey Vitte and a double and two RBIs from Christina Lopez.Kerstyn Carr suffered the loss in the circle. She gave up seven runs (one earned) on six hits in six innings. She struck out three and walked one. Black Knights slip past rival L-BVAN BUREN — Megan Stall slashed a walk-off single with one-out in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Van Buren took a big step toward a Blanchard Valley Conference Championship with a 10-9 win over Liberty-Benton.The Eagles and Black Knights each came into Friday's showdown unbeaten in the conference. Both teams are 15-1 overall.Things looked good for the Eagles early. They scored two runs in the first and three runs in the second, and went into the bottom of the third with a 5-0 lead.Van Buren came back with a run in the third, then erupted for seven runs in the fourth to take an 8-5 lead.Going to the top of the seventh, L-B trailed 9-6. But the Eagles took advantage of three errors in the inning by the Black Knights — Van Buren had eight in the game — to claw back. Lauren Gerken had a key two-run single as part of a three run inning, and L-B tied the game at 9.But Van Buren had an answer. Shelbee Atchison led off the bottom of the seventh with her second double of the game. Jaxon Young then walked, and Anna Durliat sacrificed the runners to second and third.That brought up Stall, who delivered the winning hit.Madison Martin, Emily Stall and Atchison each drove in a pair of runs for Van Buren. Martin pitched, and allowed nine runs on seven hits while striking out seven. However, only one of the runs Martin allowed was earned.For Liberty-Benton, Kya Benschoter took the loss in the circle. She went 6 1/3 innings, allowing 11 runs on three hits. Benschoter struck out four, and only three of the runs she allowed were earned. New Riegel out-slugs Clyde in 7-6 winNEW RIEGEL — After Clyde had just tied the game with New Riegel at 6 in the top of the sixth, New Riegel then won the game on an Alayna Schalk RBI-double in the bottom half of the sixth to grab a 7-6 win over Division II Clyde.New Riegel started well with four runs in the first inning and then led 6-3 through four frames. Schalk tallied two singles and drove in a pair of runs for New Riegel, while Katie Dryfuse, Karis Schreiner and Olivia Schalk (2 RBI) all recorded two hits. Aubrey Bouillon homered and Ashlyn Bouillon and Gracie Goshe each singled and drove in a run.Jenna Burroughs singled twice and drove in three runs for the Fliers. Rams blow by BlufftonUPPER SANDUSKY — No regular first singles player, no problem for Upper Sandusky as the Rams downed Bluffton 4-1 Friday night.Holden Daris filled in for Owen Knapp at No. 1 singles for the Rams and he took down Luke Shadle 6-1, 6-4. The other singles win for the Rams (8-4) came at No. 3 as Owen Gottfried beat Branson Hilty 6-4, 6-4. Bluffton's No. 2 Wade Ginther topped Aaron MaGinn 6-0, 6-4.The top Rams doubles team of Ethan Collins and Nicholas Wines downed Eli Wenger and Braeden Ackerman 6-0, 6-1, while the No. 2 duo of Sam Smith and Ethan Steele dropped Jackson Brauen and Will Neff 6-2, 7-5. Fliers edge PerkinsCLYDE — Clyde and Perkins battled in a tight Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division match Friday, but the Fliers walked away with a 3-2 win.At singles, Perkins' No. 1 TJ Blue beat Grant McMaster 7-6(3), 6-1. The other two singles matches belonged to the Fliers as No. 2 Mat Jackson upended Will Werling 6-1, 6-1 and Aidan Krintzline edged Chase Young 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 3. Clyde then won the match as the No. 1 doubles duo of Kyle Flewelling and Gavin Gill dropped Matt Chandran and Lucus Gray 6-2, 6-3. Perkins won the second doubles match 7-6(5), 6-3 as Connor Beverick and Wyatt Dulaney topped Adrian Benjamin and Jackson Coley.
