Library not just for kids

A lot of times, the Library is seen as a place for kids — and our storytime attendance recently can attest to that! But the Library isn't just for kids. At the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, in addition to our large collection of books, movies and more, we have a number of services and programs that adults can utilize. For internet access, we have our Tech Center and take-home WiFi hot spots. We also have a number of digital services that allow you to stream movies, music, eBooks, audiobooks and more — all free with your Library card. This month, we have two special programs for adults, and we're also busy gearing up for the Summer Reading Program! Have you been digging in the dirt this spring, or need plants for your yard but don't want to spend a lot of money? Stop by the Library for a free Plant Swap on Monday, May 16 in the Frost Kalnow Room. Drop in anytime between 2 and 4 p.m. to leave extra plants that are looking for a new home, or to take something new home. You do not need to bring a plant to take one home! Please bring plants in soil or water. The Library will provide extra pots and soil. Suggestions of plants to bring are house plants, outdoor plants, starts, bulbs and seeds. Please bring as much detail on the plant as possible, such as instructions for planting, or whether it requires sun or shade. Plants can be dropped off beginning at noon. On Wednesday, May 25 at 6 p.m., our discussion series "T-SPL Talks" returns with a conversation on Alzheimer's Education. Join a representative from the Alzheimer's Association as she discusses "Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body" and "10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's Disease." Learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, and learn the difference between normal aging and Alzheimer's, common warning signs, the importance of early detection and benefits of diagnosis and next steps and expectations for the diagnostic process. Lastly, adults look forward to summer just as much as kids do sometimes! It can mean more time spent with your children, or a relaxing time for outdoor activities and fun vacations. This summer, discover an "Ocean of Possibilities" at the Library during our annual Summer Reading Program, which begins June 1 and runs until July 31! During that time, adults can read books and magazines to earn prize entries! One book or five magazines equals one prize entry. This year, prize winners will receive Chamber Cash and an exclusive T-SPL prize! Special programs for adults will include an in-person craft program, a trivia contest and more!
