MST Pub & Grub gets national attention

MST Pub & Grub — known for its chicken chunks and burgers — has been chosen by America's Best Restaurants to be featured on its national media channels. Owner Chris Chase said the company's video crew will be in town May 21 before the restaurant opens. Customers won't be inside at that time, so crews can set up their cameras and shoot Chase and his employees focusing on several aspects of the restaurant. "They're going to shoot for three hours and we get the content," he said. "Commercials can be posted online. I can even do TV if I talk to the right people down the road." Chase said he doesn't know how the local restaurant was chosen, but he said the company's staff looks at reviews and information online to determine good candidates. In addition to the company's media channels, Chase can use the video for marketing purposes. "It is exciting," Chase said. "We're pretty busy, but it's always nice to have that kind of press for sure. "We just started the sauce company for Madison Street," he said. "So I thought it would be a good platform." MST Sauce Co. made its debut and has expanded into 20 stores in northwest Ohio in addition to Tiffin — Findlay, Bucyrus, Upper Sandusky, Fremont and Fostoria to name a few. He's still working on a few new sauces to add to the list before he expands further, he said. Chase said he's getting customers involved in the process. He posted on social media to make the announcement. "Next week, we'll do another post to find out which three items they want to see featured," he said. "There will definitely be a segment where we talk about the food." Other segments will tell the restaurant's story, he said, and talk about the direction it's heading. "We made the transition from a bar into a restaurant," he said. "That's always been a goal." He bought the establishment in 2009, but he's worked there since 2005 when he a was a student at Tiffin University working toward his master's degree in marketing. Recently, he said the restaurant has done some remodeling — adding new floors, new décor and a fireplace. "We made it more cozy for folks to enjoy," he said. He said there's another collaboration in the works that he can't disclose. But Chase said all the marketing has only one purpose. "In the end, our customers are the only ones who really matter," he said.
