Chieftains, Jones repeat as River Division champs

CLYDE — It's another year, but a lot of the results were the same.Sherron Jones won three races, setting an all-division meet record in one, and anchored a winning relay Friday to help Hopewell-Loudon successfully defend its River Division crown Friday at the Sandusky Bay Conference Championships.The Chieftains cruised past Gibsonburg 145-110 for the title, with the help of eight victories in Friday's portion of the meet. Finals were held in two races and three field events Tuesday.Jones set his meet record by winning the 400 in 49.18 seconds. He also took the 100 (11.15) and 200 (22.05). The senior won all three races last year.He also anchored this year's victorious 4x200 team (1:33.79). Justin Holland, Jagger Endicott and Nico Garcia joined him.The Chieftains also got wins from shot putter Ryan Cook (50-11 3/4), Evan Kreais in both the 110 hurdles (16.86) and the 300 hurdles (44.55), and the 4x100 team of Holland, Gavin Jordan, Endicott and Garcia (45.98).Lucas Nutter, Jon Collene, Holland and Garcia ran third in the 4x400 (3:44.13) for the Chieftains.Fourths came from shot putter Brandon Boes shot (43-2) and Garcia in the 200 (24.53).Lucas Nutter ran fifth in the 400 (55.02) and Holland did the same in the 100 (12.14).Evan Kreais added a seventh in the long jump (17-9 1/4), with eighths going to Adam Kreais in the 110 hurdles (20.02) and Lance Crawford in the 800 (2:14.4).New Riegel held off Calvert 82-74 for fourth, with Lakota scoring 73 points for sixth. Baker powers Stockaders to thirdCLYDE — Old Fort's Kristin Baker won the long jump and placed in three races and Calvert's 4x400 team set a meet and school record Friday to highlight area efforts on the second and final day of the River Division portion of the Sandusky Bay Conference Track and Field Championships.Gibsonburg held off Danbury 112-110 1/2 for the River Division crown. Old Fort scored 97 points to take third, with Calvert nosing out Hopewell-Loudon 92 1/2-92 for fourth. Wilson hurdles to SBC crownCLYDE — Brady Wilson of Clyde won one race and claimed second in another Friday to top local efforts in the Lake Division part of the Sandusky Bay Conference Championships.Wilson took the 300 hurdles (39.18) and ended as the runner-up in the 110 hurdles (14.48) to key Clyde's run to third in the team standings with 92 1/2 points.Perkins upended Vermilion 165 1/2-126 for the team crown. Columbian took fourth (83 1/2) and Bellevue wound up sixth (60).The meet began Tuesday, with finals in two races and all five field events, along with preliminary races.Zane Townsley backed Wilson by crossing the line third in the 400 (51.72) for the Fliers.Clyde also got fourths in the 4x200 (1:34.57), 4x100 (45.42) and 4x400 (3:30.7).Damarius Chrisman led off all three relays, with Payton Aldrich and Jay Plummer joining him on the 4x200 and 4x100. SE wins back-to-back N10 titlesBUCYRUS — It went down to the wire, but the Seneca East boys track and field team are Northern 10 Athletic Conference champions for the second straight season. The Tigers outlasted Colonel Crawford 149-143 to win. Upper Sandusky placed third (105 points), Carey was fifth (60), Buckeye Central came in sixth (52) and Mohawk placed seventh (40). The Tigers compiled four wins and five runner-up finishes to out-duel the Eagles Friday night at Wynford High School. Dylan young won the 100 (11.68), while Korbin Beamer was first in the 200 (23.34) and the 4x1 (44.99) and 4x2 (1:34.49) relay teams also won. Individual names on relays were not listed. Seconds for SE belonged to Brycen Lantz in the 1,600 (4:52.50) and 3,200 (10:42.90), Emerson Brown in the 400 (52.83), Young in the 200 (23.62) and Kyle Hoepf in the pole vault (13-0). The 4x8 relay took third (9:00.13), as did Gavin Hargis in the 110 hurdles (16.30). Fourths went to Bryler Beamer in the 800 (2:12.17) and Hargis in the long jump (19-3 ½) and fifth-place finishes went to Luke Hicks in the discus (119-0) and Isaac Mason in the high jump (5-10). Upper Sandusky produced four wins Friday as two of them belonged to distance runner Ashton Vent, who claimed the 3,200 and 1,600. He crossed the line in 10:18.80 in the 3,200 and 4:43.80 in the 1,600. The other two wins came from Ben Arnold in the shot put (42-6) and the 4x4 relay team (3:33.06). Ben Patchett was runner-up in the 800 (2:07.00), while the 4x8 team (8:50.76) was also second. Thirds went to the 4x2 (1:34.95) and Collin Bils in the discus (125-9) and fourths went to the 4x1 (48.03) and Evan Hill in the 400 (53.88). Levi Lamb placed fifth in the 200 (24.21). Carey's Anthony Bell took the 800 in 2:04.69, while also placing third in the high jump, clearing 6-0. Brock Bushong was second in the discus (140-9) and fifth in the shot put (41-0 ½), while Bryce Young finished third in the 1,600 (4:55.50), the 4x4 was third (3:39.42) and both Brody Baker (110 hurdles, 17.32) and the 4x2 (1:35.28) were fourth. BC was led by Aiden McDougal's win in the discus (147-6) and his third-place showing in the shot put (42-2 ¼). J.R. Martin was third in the 300 hurdles (42.42), while the 4x8 (9:21.11) and Corbin Bloomfield (200, 24.15) were fourth and the 4x1 took fifth (50.35). Defending Division III pole vault state champion Zaiden Fry won the N10 title, clearing 14-9 Friday, which was a meet record. He also was second in the 100 dash (11.79). Ethan Gatchell took third in the long jump (19-5 ¼) and the 4x8 relay (9:32.45) placed fifth. Eagles run away with N10 crownBUCYRUS — Colonel Crawford won the Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls meet running away 220-122 over runner-up Carey Friday night at Wynford High School. Seneca East placed fourth (67 ½ points), Upper Sandusky was fifth (58), Mohawk finished seventh (34 ½) and Buckeye Central came in eighth (20). Headlining Carey's second-place finish were Sarah Reinhart in the 1,600 and Lexi Plott in the high jump. Reinhart ran to a meet record time of 5:20.66 to win, while Plott cleared 5-2 to win. The Blue Devils also had three runner-up finishes that came in the 4x8 relay (10:22.99) and 4x2 relay (1:50.88) and Reinhart in the 3,200 (12:30.22). No individual names were listed for relay events. Thirds went to Tristen Courtad (100 hurdles, 17.61), Macy Wentling (400, 1:03.06), Chloe Etzinger (800, 2:41.29), Plott (200, 27.57) and the 4x1 relay (55.72). Wentling also finished fourth in the 100 dash (13.56). Lily Schiefer led Seneca East with a win in the 3,200 and a second-place effort in the 1,600. She won the 3,200 in 12:07.76, while running the 1,600 in 5:24.64. Another runner-up finish for the Tigers came from Haylee Steinmetz in the pole vault, clearing 8-6. Third-place finishes came from the 4x8 team (10:37.62), the 4x4 (4:24.52) and Amelia Boes in the shot put (33-7 ½. Makenna Depinet finished fourth in the long jump (15-1 ½). Upper Sandusky's best finish belonged to Sydney Ham in the shot put (35-2 ½) placing second. She added a third in the discus (107-4). Other thirds for the Rams came from the 4x2 team (1:55.36) and Madi Ratliff in the 300 hurdles (52.45). Ratliff added a fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.66), while Elexys Miller (high jump, 5-0), and the 4x4 (4:31.02) also finished fourth. Lindsay Weininger placed fifth in the 400 (1:05.96). Mohawk freshman Addison Horner took third in the 3,200 (13:01.66), while also finishing fifth in the pole vault (7-0). The 4x8 team (11:23.25) and the 4x1 (57.29) were fifth, along with Kaylynn Maybee in the 1,600 (6:10.48). Buckeye Central's best finish came from Neveah Metzger in the 400, where she ended fourth (1:04.04).
