Summer heats up for Tiffin parks

Tiffin Parks and Recreation Department has kicked off its summer season with the opening of the city pool and start of day camps, and there's a lot more coming this year at the parks. The pool is open 1-7 p.m. daily. One-day pool passes are $5 for people ages 3 and older and a season pass for 2022 can be purchased for $10. Season passes can be purchased online at tiffinparks.com. Registration for most day camps has filled up, but there are still some seats available for a few Xplore cay camps and sports camps. More information is available at tiffinparks.com. Thursday Night Tunes returns at Frost-Kalnow Amphitheater at the East Green in downtown Tiffin beginning June 16. The kick-off show coincides with the Bicentennial Birthday Party Third Thursday event. Concerts take place weekly on Thursdays beginning at 7 p.m. with the final performance, the Band Bash, set for Aug. 18. The 2022 TNT season is sponsored by Croghan Colonial Bank. Also at the East Green, free yoga classes are happening 9-10 a.m. Saturdays through Aug. 27 with Yoga Chuck and Kaitlyn Borer, sponsored by Tiffin Parks and Recreation. Attendees should provide their own yoga mats and water. Plans are underway for the July 4 celebration at Hedges-Boyer Park. The day includes expanded pool hours, food trucks, games, a bicentennial car show sponsored by Reineke Family Dealerships, live music from local musicians, a performance by country musician Darryl Worley and a fireworks display at 10 p.m. More details will be released soon. Registration is open at tiffinparks.com for "Cruisin' Thru the Years" car show. People checking in the first 50 cars on July 4 receive a free T-shirt, two lunch vouchers and a goodie bag from Destination Seneca County. Participants will "cruise" through the park beginning at 11 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m. A new electronic sign has also been installed at Hedges-Boyer Park just outside the swimming pool, which list upcoming programs.
