Bakery adds production site, expands products

Ellen and Don Bell plan to add a production site for their company, Baked by Bells, in downtown Tiffin at 14 Sycamore St. The Bells will continue to sell their baked goods at Tiffin Seneca Farmers Market and other local markets with a newly expanded product line, according to Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership news release. The release said Ellen comes from a long line of craftswomen and bakers. She grew up in Tiffin with a love for baking that was instilled in her by her mother and her grandmother, who taught home economics and the art of baking and cooking in the 1930s. Today, Ellen shares that passion with her children, Teagan and Jasmin. "It is a dream come true to turn my love of baking into a business and to be able to share that with the people I have known in Tiffin for over 40 years," she said. Baked By Bells offers macarons, lollipops, short breads, royal icing sugar cookies, buckeye candies, caramels, brownies, muffins, pies, cheesecake and seasonal hot cocoa bombs. With the addition of freeze-drying equipment, the Bells expanded from a strictly home-based business and are adding candy options. The release said the freeze-drying process provides a different texture and experience to traditional candy. Baked By Bells products can be found at the local farmers market, which takes place downtown 9a.m.-1 p.m. every Saturday as well as three markets in other communities. They also accept custom orders.
