TU accounting program earns endorsement

Tiffin University's accounting program recently received an endorsement from the Institute of Management Accountants. "This news spells significant and positive change for Tiffin University's School of Business," Peter J. Holbrook, provost and chief academic officer, said. "Not only is it a testament to the hard work and dedication of the faculty, as well as the quality of instruction they provide, but our graduates can now say they received their education from an IMA-endorsed institution. The reputation of the IMA precedes it, and having their official support further enhances the value of a degree in accounting from TU," Holbrook said. Less than 70 accounting programs across the nation have received the endorsement, according to the release. The endorsement program through IMA assists with preparing students for the Certified Management Accountant Exam and helps with meeting the demands of jobs in the field following graduation, it states. To qualify for an IMA endorsement, schools must meet four benchmarks. Their accounting program must substantially cover the content featured on the CMA exam, the program must have adequate faculty resources to deliver said content, the department must be accredited by a recognized accreditation organization and a faculty member within the major must be designated as an IMA Campus Advocate. "While this is news worth being celebrated by all, our students are the ones who will most directly benefit," Terry Sullivan, vice provost for Faculty Relations and dean of the School of Business, said. "This endorsement will open many doors for them, both during their time as undergraduates and after they enter their careers."
