TCS board approves salary increases

The Tiffin City Board of Education met Monday evening, approving employment and compensation items. During the meeting, the board approved renewing an administrator contract for Kathryn Plott as a district social worker and student/family support specialist. In addition, the board approved an administrator contract for Jerry Nadeau to serve as director of student services. He will be working with special needs students. On another matter, the board approved the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center educational services contract for the fiscal year 2023. The contract is in the amount of $1,349,998. In addition, the board approved a contract with NCOES for student and family support specialist services in the amount of $67,251. The board also approved salary and wage schedule adjustments for the 2022-23 contract year. Increases in salaries will be made by 3% and hourly rates will be increased by 3%. In addition, a one-time, lump-sum payment of $750 will be made in the calendar year 2022 for each 2022-23 regular support staff member. The board also approved a compensation step increase for administrators and supervisors for all returning administrators. On another matter, the board approved adopting a temporary appropriation measure for the fiscal year 2023 for the purpose to allow the district to pay expenses until the permanent appropriations are certified by the Budget Commission. The total of all funds equals $38,352,373. During the meeting, Director of Operations Scott Daniel presented the district received a $46,000 federal grant toward purchasing buses. The board approved the purchase of three buses. The remaining amount came from the district's Capital Improvement Fund. The board also received a letter from a parent expressing concern over not receiving responses from the district and board regarding her special needs student. On another matter, the board approved several employment items in its consent agenda including the resignation of Daniel Hartsel, athletic director.
