Attica Post Office closes after vehicle hits building

ATTICA — A customer crashed their vehicle into the Attica Post Office yesterday, causing significant damage to the structure of the building. At about 10:43 a.m. Wednesday, a caller reported an elderly woman drove into the post office, according to a police report. She was the only passenger in the vehicle and did not claim any injuries. The woman had no signs of impairment and was medically cleared by EMS. A private property accident form was completed. For safety reasons, operations are temporarily suspended at the Attica office and have been relocated to the New Washington Post Office, 214 W. Mansfield St., New Washington. Hours of operation for the New Washington Post Office are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-noon, closed for lunch, then reopening from 1-4 p.m. Saturday hours are from 9 a.m.-noon. P.O. box customers can pick their mail up at the window in New Washington during operating hours and will need to show identification. "The Postal Services apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, however, the safety of our employees and customers is our top priority," a release from the USPS states.
