Tiffin 200 Farm-to-Table dinner set for Aug. 17

Seneca County Common Ground, along with the Tiffin 200 bicentennial committee is planning a Farm-to-Table dinner at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 featuring food grown by local producers. The dinner at the Chandelier Community Event Center is to celebrate Tiffin's 200th birthday and the city's local-food tradition. Lonny Gatlin, the Farm-to-Table chef for Bellwether Farms, will be the guest chef for the five course meal, which includes local beers and wines. Seneca County Common Ground is a nonprofit organization created to support local food and agriculture and promote access to and knowledge of fresh foods for Seneca County residents. Vendors that are frequently at the weekly downtown farmers market, including Riehm's Produce Farm, Clay Hill Organic, Bella Cuisine and others, will provide fresh produce and breads for the event. "The event will allow Tiffin-ites to taste a bit of home while enjoying an evening out on the town," according to an event news release. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite at www.eventbrite.com/e/farm-to-table-dinner-tickets-320875767057. However, customers will not have to wait until mid-August to enjoy fresh foods because they can be purchased at the downtown market 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Saturday. This week vendors include: Baked by Bells, Bella Cuisine, Clay Hill Organic, Creative Pottery, Freeze Dried Ohio, Hope's Landing, Me and the Boys, Miss Cindy's Cookies, Put Your Name on it 2014/Triggers Farm Market, Raizen Girls Cookies, Riehm Produce Farm, Sacred Soil Farm, Windy Wild Acres and Windy Hill Berries. This week's food truck is JT's Bagels and music is to be provided by Dean-o Rochester.
