Tiffin man involved in fatal accident

SYLVANIA — A Tiffin man was involved in a fatal accident Friday night. At about 9:28 p.m., a fatal crash occurred on IR 475 eastbound near Corey Road, according to a release from the Toledo Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol. A blue Jeep Compass was stopped eastbound on IR 475 in the left lane disabled. A black Kenworth T800 driven by Mark Morgan,59, of Tiffin, was eastbound on IR 475 and struck the Jeep Compass. A pedestrian, Bryona Blacksten,32, of Toledo, was outside of the Jeep Compass and was struck by Morgan's vehicle. Blacksten was pronounced dead at the scene. Morgan sustained no injuries from the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Sylvania Township Police Department, Sylvania Township Fire Department and the Ohio Department of Transportation. IR 475 eastbound was shut down for approximately five hours Friday night. The crash remains under investigation.
