Historic hotel revitalization

Tiffin Boutique Hotel Group is seeking local investors and limited partners for a planned Hotel Gibson in downtown Tiffin, according to Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership. In the planned redevelopment, a Monday news release from TSEP said "the group has established a concept that embraces and incorporates the dramatic features already present on site such as the original staircase and skylight." The hotel would have 25 enlarged rooms and suites and two retail locations on the ground floor. "The new Gibson Hotel concept will represent an anchor of Downtown Tiffin," the release said. "The original partners will remain involved in the project for a minimum of five years after opening, but long term would like to have someone local to Tiffin or Seneca County take over the hotel." The Tiffin Boutique Hotel Group has accomplished much of the groundwork required for the project, the release said. Certified experts have inspected the foundation, roof and exterior walls and determined they are in acceptable condition. Additionally, the group has completed conceptual work, preliminary architectural drawings and determined the building is eligible for federal and state historic tax credits and other incentive programs. "This project is an important component of the continued restoration of Tiffin's historic downtown," said Director of Downtown Revitalization Amy Reinhart. "The Gibson Hotel redevelopment will create a new overnight option in the heart of our community while providing additional retail space for our entrepreneurs."
