Tiffin Women in Action celebrates 1-year anniversary At the September Tiffin Women in Action (TWIA) meeting, the group celebrated its one-year anniversary with Mayor Dawn Iannantuono as the guest speaker. Just a reminder, the TWIA Women & Children's Fund has officially been opened with the Tiffin Community Foundation. If anyone would like to make a donation to the fund, checks can be sent directly to the Tiffin Community Foundation, 31 S. Washington St. Tiffin, OH 44883, or donations may be made online at www.tiffinfoundation.org. The next TWIA meeting will be Oct. 26 at the Tiffin Eagles. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. All are invited to attend. Lunch is $15 and dues are $25 for the year. Tiffin Historic Trust President Nevin Martin welcomed guest Greg Dell to the Oct. 3, Tiffin Historic Trust board meeting. Dell, representing Dan Reineke and The Reineke Family Dealerships, presented Martin with an oversized check for $750! On Aug. 20, the dealership hosted its 4th annual Motors N' Music in Tiffin car show at the East Tower and designated the proceeds to be shared between The Tiffin Historic Trust and the Catherine A Matthews Memorial Fund. The board members expressed their great appreciation for the gift. Mary Lewis reported on the Sept. 18, Ohio Open Doors program when the Historic Trust opened its headquarters, the Grammes-Brown House for free tours during the Heritage Festival. Ten volunteer docents told the story of the Victorian-era home while the visitors viewed the architecture, furnishings and collectibles of the Grammes-Brown family. Lewis was pleased with the interest in the home shown by the visitors. Guests received souvenir Ohio History Connection key chains. Upcoming fundraising programs include the Oct. 8 Tea featuring Lisa Swickard telling Stories of the Native Americans of Seneca County. The Mystery Bourbon Tasting presented by Dave Spridgeon is on Oct. 16, at 3 p.m. in the Grammes-Brown Carriage House and Garden. Those wishing to attend should phone or text Nevin at 419-618-1001. The Annual Holiday House Tour is on Dec. 4 and Joan Martin announced the six buildings that will be included. The traditional Chili Supper for tour hosts, members and friends is on Dec. 5. Next spring a program for local realtors will promote the benefits of historic home ownership. Mike Pinkston has been working on the Tiffin Historic Trust's first online walking tour, a Bar Crawl, featuring the architecture and interiors of eight local establishments. Participants will soon be able to use their own electronic devices to access the tour from the Historic Trust's website. Future online directed tours will include a look at the Traffic Control Box Art Works sponsored by the Tiffin Municipal Arts Commission (TMAC) and the City of Tiffin, and eventually a view of Tiffin's neighborhood architectural gems. Serra Club of Tiffin Serra Club of Tiffin hosted the Precious Blood of Jesus Deanery Deacons at their Oct. 3 dinner meeting.Featured speaker, Deacon Brahier, spoke of his faith journey and transition from university teacher to working with students in formation and organizing professional development for permanent deacons.The next Serra Club meeting is Monday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m., Upper Room, St. Joseph Parish, with featured speaker, Sr. Rita Mae Johns. All are welcome. Tiffin Kiwanis Club President, Eric Willman introduced Kiwanis members on Oct. 6 who gave the Pledge of Allegiance. Marisa Stephens gave the devotion. Virtual members attending were Gene Chintala, Jeff and Sharon Kuhn and Mark Zeno. Wedding Anniversaries celebrated were Kristi and Chris Krintzline on Oct. 7 and Lew and Tamara Hurst on Oct. 11. Club Anniversaries celebrated were Eric Willman, Oct. 1, Chelsa Bass, Molly Depew, and Melissa Mellott on Oct. 3. Bonnie Boroff was Oct. 4 and Clark Hutson on Oct. 12. Mikki King's birthday was Oct. 4. Jim Kimmel won the 50/50 and Happy Dollars were given to "Pass the Pig" supporting the HUM Teen Center. Volunteers are needed for the Christmas Parade, Dec. 3 and the Cooking Show which is scheduled for Feb. 9. Eric Willman, President reviewed the 2022 Kiwanis year. It was a year of achievement – Leading the Way to Normalcy and Growing our Community Impact. Events to celebrate are the Christmas Parade and the Cooking Show which were the first since COVID. Year attendance was a virtual i-Club but the club has returned to Kiwanis Manor in person. Community events included Kiwanis Bike Helmet Delivery to YMCA, Seneca County UCC and First Lutheran Church. Others were Family Fest, Harness Racing, Annual Garage Sale, Grade A Banquet, Summer Family Picnic and the Kiwanis Manor 50th Anniversary Celebration. Kiwanis' financial commitments to organizations included THE HUB. Salvation Army Kettles, First Call For Help, Operation Evergreen, Project Noelle, Kentucky Flood Relief, Foster Children's Birthday Bags, Tiffin Youth Center, Mercy Hospital and Foundation, Crosswaeh and Jesus on Wheels Food Pantry.
