Dutro to replace Thornton

TIFFIN — The city has a new administrator in waiting. City council approved hiring Nick Dutro on Monday. Dutro Dutro, the current director of communications and constituent services, will replace city administrator Dale Thornton when Thornton retires April 1. "I'm grateful for this opportunity to further serve the citizens of the city of Tiffin, and thank Mayor Dawn Iannantuono and Tiffin City Council for their support of me in this role," Dutro told the A-T. "I especially want to thank Dale Thornton for his friendship and guidance as I transition into the role. Dale has left an incredible legacy that I will work hard to follow." The mayor said that the city has started taking applications to find a new communications director. Candidates interested in the post must apply by Feb. 24. She provided a list of what a typical day on the job is like for her such as handling family leave requests, workers compensation claims, interviewing and reviewing job applications. In 2022, the city had 19 Family and Medical Leave Act requests and eight workers compensation claims. City council also approved four resolutions on Monday: 23-6: Resolution approving the mayor's appointment of Mary Franks to serve a term on the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Advisory Committee from Feb. 6, 2023, - Dec. 31, 2025. 23-7: Resolution approving the mayor's appointment of Nicholas Dutro as the City Administrator. 23-8: Resolution approving appointing Brent T. Howard, Director of Law, as the designee for Tiffin City Council and its individual members, to attend a public records training session for purposes of compliance with ORC 109.43 and 149.43 and declaring an emergency. The next city council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
