STEM camp returns

Camp Invention is coming back to Seneca County and Tiffin City Schools with an all-new program. Tiffin City Schools Business Council has partnered with the National Inventors Hall of Fame to offer the Camp Invention program to children entering second grade through entering sixth grade that attend school in Seneca County or Tiffin. Children will engage in open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more topics during the popular program. Campers will have fun collaborating with friends, thinking creatively and inventing their own solutions to real-world challenges. The week begins on June 19 with Nichole Arnold serving as director. The all-new camp will feature an morning base camp with projects like MIMICBOT, where campers will transform their own robot into a one-of-a-kind stuffed animal, and Catching Air, where campers will design their own mini-skate park. Campers will then have lunch and play games. The featured games are Pop-Up Venture, where campers will create their own pop-up shop, and Invention Celebration, where campers will become event planners. At the afternoon base camp, campers will wind down with problem-solving games. Camp Invention is made possible through grants and donations from local businesses. The actual cost of the camp is $250 per student, but due to donations, the cost is $130 per student. Registration is open to all students in grades 2-6 that reside in Seneca County. Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarships are provided by National Machinery Foundation, Webster Foundation Inc., Tiffin Rotary, Kiwanis Club, Tiffin Lion's Club and White Family Foundation.
