Campus notes: Trine, John Carroll, University of Wisconsin

ADELPHI, Md. Zach Clayton of Vermilion and Alexandra Wilson of Sandusky joined more than 9,800 University of Maryland global campus students who were named to the dean's list for the fall semester. To be honored, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, have earned a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term and maintained a cumulative 3.5 GPA. ANGOLA, Ind. In March, Milan native Connor Betts, a design engineering technology major at Trine University, toured Andretti Autosport in Indianapolis with his peers. Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the Andretti Autosport team fields entries in IndyCar as well as several other series. Andretti Autosport boasts more than 230 race wins, including five at the Indianapolis 500, as well as multiple series championships. The trip gave the students — all of whom share a passion for cars — the opportunity to see automotive engineering at its highest level. Betts said that, for him, seeing the engines was a highlight of the trip. "They are high-powered Honda engines that are unlike anything I have been able to get close to before," Betts said in a university news release. CONWAY, S.C. More than 1,100 students were named to the president's list at Coastal Carolina University for the fall 2022 semester, including Renae Bates of Willard. Students who made the president's list have achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the semester. DECATUR, Ill. Joshua Higgins, of Bellevue, made the dean's list for fall 2022 at Millikin University. Students who attempt 12 graded credits during a fall or spring semester and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher earn dean's list honors. MADISON, Wis. Kathryn Smith, of Sandusky, graduated with a master's degree in water resources management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with about 1,750 students during a commencement ceremony last fall. UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio Two Ottawa County natives — Blake Booker of Put-in-Bay and Gabrielle Maringer of Lakeside-Marblehead — qualified for the fall 2022 Boler College of Business dean's list at John Carroll University. To be eligible, students must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours within one semester and have a quality grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. WEST HARTFORD, Conn. The University of Hartford's Peter Ogrinc, of Sandusky, has been named to its president's honors list for fall 2022. The president's honors list is made up of an extremely select group of students who earned a grade point average of 3.75 or higher in the semester. This GPA must be sustained over a full undergraduate career to qualify for a degree summa cum laude. WICHITA, Kan. Bellevue's Kenneth Posey was among more than 3,500 students who were on Wichita State University's dean's honor roll for fall 2022. A student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale to qualify.
