Blake Coleman twirled a one-hitter and Mason Johnson ignited the offense with a three-run homer in the first inning Thursday as Calvert thumped Fremont St. Joe 15-0 in a Division IV sectional final.Johnson's homer provided the first runs of a four-run first inning for the Senecas, who advance to play New Riegel in Wednesday's 2 p.m. district semifinal at Clyde.Calvert tacked on five runs in the second inning and three each in the third and fourth.The opening salvo proved plenty for Coleman, who fanned nine and allowed a hit, two walks and a hit batter. Another St. Joe batter reached on an error.Johnson added a single, another run and another RBI for the Senecas, and Nick Palm went 2 for 2 with three runs and an RBI.Coleman helped himself with a triple, run and RBI and Caden Otterbacher tripled, drove in a run and scored twice.A.J. Jones-led Blue Jackets handle St. Mary 10-1NEW RIEGEL — New Riegel's Shane Jones tossed a complete game on the hill and hit two singles and scored three runs as the Blue Jackets dispatched Sandusky St. Mary 10-1 in a Division IV sectional final.Jones gave up five hits and one walk in the win. Elsewhere at the dish, New Riegel's Carson Pahl doubled and singled, Brody Hohman singled and drove in two runs, Drew Theis doubled and scored two runs, Alec Hohman singled and scored and Carter Clouse finsihed with a single and a RBI. New Riegel (15-11) advances to face Calvert for a third time. Warriors rout RidgemontMOUNT VICTORY — Mohawk struck early and Brayden Chester kept Ridgemont's batters in check Thursday in a 13-1 Division IV sectional final.The Warriors (9-15), who move on to face Colonel Crawford in Wednesday's 4 p.m. district semifinal at Galion, scored five runs in the top of the first and added two more in the third to take control.Chester struck out 10 and allowed just three hits and no earned runs.Brant Kirian led Mohawk's assault by going 4 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs. Hunter Haynes ended 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI, Braylan Mullholand added two runs, a single and RBI, and Travis Geary had a single, run and three RBIs.Drew Woodland scored twice and singled, Bryce Hannam singled and scored, Lance Frankart and Ben Bogner both had a single and RBI, Chester tallied a run and RBI, Kaden Stober singled, Elias Magallanes drove in a run, and Kaleb Bish and Nick Golling both scored.Colten Bailey had a single and RBI for the Gophers. Snyder, Cleveland shutout StritchOLD FORT — The two runs in the bottom of the first were definitely enough with the way starting pitcher Isaac Snyder pitched Thursday and the relief of teammate Carter Cleveland in a 3-0 Old Fort sectional final win over Cardinal Stritch.With the win, the Stockaders advance to play Norwalk St. Paul at Clyde Wednesday at 5 p.m.Snyder went 5 2/3 innings not giving up a single hit with nine punchouts and four walks. Cleveland gave up a hit, but also struck out two in his 1 1/3 innings to close it out.At the plate, Isiah Perez, Ryan Adelsperger and Konnor Ernsberger (2B, RBI) all had two hits for Old Fort, while Cleveland singled and drove in a run and Snyder, Simon Garza and Carter DuBois each singled. Fritz, Tigers edge Big Red 2-1ATTICA — There weren't many hits or runs Thursday, but Seneca East made the most of them in a 2-1 Division IV sectional final win over Plymouth. Caden Fritz went all seven innings on the mound for SE (13-12), allowing an unearned run on an infield single with six strikeouts and one walk. "Caden Fritz was in complete control on the mound today," SE coach Rick Bowerman said. "the only hit he gave up was an infield single in the seventh. We had two errors on defense, but we also made some big plays, including an inning-ending double play in the fourth."Fritz had a double, a single and a RBI at the plate, while Brandon Hines added a single and a RBI. The Tigers will face Lucas Wednesday at Galion at 7 p.m. Eagles beat Bucks for 3rd timeNORTH ROBINSON — This one meant a little more being a tournament game, but the result was the same as the other two. Colonel Crawford run-ruled Buckeye Central 11-1 in a Division IV sectional final Thursday. The Bucks actually led 1-0 after an inning, but that lead quickly evaporated as CC (14-11) scored two runs in the second and then tacked on the other nine by the sixth frame.Kason Wurm hit three singles and drove in a run for the Eagles, while winning pitcher Brennan Hamilton and Nick Eachus (2 RBIs) each had two singles, Deagan Moore doubled and drove in two runs, Van Winterstellar doubled and drove in a run and Rod Rike doubled.Gabe Bellamy tripled and Isaac Hiler singled twice for the Bucks (7-16). Hamilton went six innings with three hits given up and nine strikeouts. Hiler took the loss, allowing nine runs on seven hits in four innings. He walked six.
