In 1974, President Gerald Ford designated the third week in May as EMS Week to honor EMS clinicians and the important work they do in our nation's communities, according to ems.gov. National EMS Week 2023— May 21-27 —marks our 49th year of this special week set aside to celebrate the EMS profession and its dedicated providers. The following is an interview with Timothy Showman EMT-B for Seneca County EMS. "I am 26 years old and native to Bloomville and Seneca County," Showman said. "After graduating from Buckeye Central High School, I found myself uncertain about what I wanted out of life." "I spent the majority of my working life in various factory jobs in the area. But wanting more out of life I decided to take up the call and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. In the end, I was unable to serve my country the way I wanted but I decided to instead serve my community." "After much thought I made the decision to join EMS because I love the fast-paced environment, being able to think quickly on my feet, and having the opportunity to meet new people every day. I take pride in the opportunity to represent myself and Seneca County EMS."
