Pizza, geocaching trail goes live Saturday

SENECA COUNTY – Seneca County Pizza and Geocaching Trail – featuring 19 pizza restaurants – goes live at 10 a.m. Saturday on the geocaching app. Residents and visitors can participate by downloading a passport from the website, www.SenecaPizzaTrail.com, or passports can be picked up at the front desk of Hampton Inn of Tiffin starting Saturday. People who are not yet signed up on the geocaching.com app can download the app free from Play Store on Android phones or the App Store on iPhones. The trail offers incentives to residents and visitors to explore Seneca County one slice at a time. The two parts of the experience can be conducted together or separately. People who buy pizza at six of the pizza eateries and collect stickers at those locations can receive a Slice of Seneca County T-shirt – if they found any caches or not. In the geocaching portion, participants can receive a limited-edition and trackable two-piece geocaching coin for finding 19 caches related to the pizza places. Participating pizza restaurants are Smitty's Pizza and VC Attica Cameo, Attica; Sauber's Stumble Inn, Bascom; Domino's Pizza, Fostoria Pizza Palace, Marco's Pizza and Red's Pizza, Fostoria; Big C's Smokehouse & Pizza, Green Springs; Left Field, New Riegel; Fat Head's Family Restaurant, Republic; and Domino's Pizza, Fort Ball Pizza Palace North and South, Heavenly Pizza, Jac & Do's Pizza, Marco's Pizza, Napoli Pizza, Reino's Pizza & Pasta and VC Tiffin Cameo, Tiffin. The new pizza trail was announced earlier this month during opening ceremonies of the Ohio GeoClash & Festival, sponsored by the Ohio Geocaching Association. Passports for the Slice of Seneca County Pizza and Geocaching Trail must be turned in at the Hampton Inn of Tiffin to redeem the geocaching coin and/or T-shirt. After trail completion, participants will receive 25% off a room stay that night, contingent on room availability.
