Attica Fair opens Tuesday

ATTICA — Attica Independent Fair opens its gates Tuesday for its 147th fair, which runs through Saturday. "We are really excited for the 2023 Attica Independent Fair," said Tanya Nagel, fair board president. "We have a great lineup in the grandstands, on the Beer Garden stage and, as always, seeing the kids in the show ring is why we are here. As an independent fair, we are smaller, but the family atmosphere can't be beat." Fair traditions will be offered again this year, including a cheerleading competition, a monster truck show, truck and tractor pulls, a beer garden with nightly entertainment, inflatables and a corn pit for the kids, food stands, and of course, livestock shows and junior fair activities. According to information from the fair board, Attica Fair is one of seven independent fairs remaining in Ohio. On Tuesday, sponsored by Attica Lumber, admission is free until noon with canned food items to be donated to Attica Food Pantry. Opening ceremony is at 9 a.m., followed by the goat show at 10:30 a.m. At 5 p.m., the cheerleading contest and the royalty contest are planned, followed by the Stylish Design Review at 6 p.m. and ARBA Rabbit Show at 7 p.m. Steve Baxter & Same Sevenson are in the Beer Garden at 7 p.m. and the baked goods auction is at 8 p.m. Seniors get in free Wednesday on Senior Citizens Day, sponsored by St. Francis Senior Ministries and Sutton Bank. There will be vendors, health checks and entertainment in the Social Hall 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and harness racing at noon as well as the Junior Fair Cattle & Beef Show at 2 p.m. and the Kids Pedal Pull at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Draft Pony Pull starts in the grandstand and The Yankin' Covers performs in the Beer Garden. Thursday is Veteran's Day, sponsored by Mercy Health. Veterans are admitted free. The schedule includes Poultry Show & Judging at 9 a.m. and harness racing in the grandstand at noon. The Kids Pedal Pull continues at 5 p.m. as well as the Junior Fair Sheep Show/Judging. The Antique Tractor Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstand followed by wiener dog races and pig scramble at 7:30 pm. Gopher Baroque plays at 7 p.m. in the Beer Garden. Friday is sponsored by Sutton Bank and Ottawa Sandusky Seneca Solid Waste District. Highlights for the day include the Market Hog Show at 10 a.m., Showman of Showman at 5 p.m. and the Kids Pedal Pull at 5 p.m. In the grandstand, the Mid Ohio Off-Road & Monster Truck Show, "Motor Mayhem," pit party starts at 5:30 and the show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $15. The Jessica Hannan Band is in the Beer Garden at 8 p.m. Saturday, sponsored by J&F Construction and AgCredit, starts with the livestock sale at 9 a.m. The finals of the Kids Pedal Pull are at 4 p.m. and the Tri-County Garden Tractor Pullers are in the grandstand at 5 p.m. followed by the OSTPA Truck and Tractor Pulls at 7 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $10 and pit admission is $15. Hunter Hoop performs in the Beer Garden at 8 p.m. Daily gate admission is $7 for people ages 5 and older. Inflatables are included in the gate admission and parking is free.
