Mobile home catches fire

FOSTORIA — On Thursday afternoon at around 2:29 p.m. a trailer fire was reported at 8702 W. State Route 18 at Hopewell Estates Mobile Home Park. Bascom Joint Fire District arrived on scene within 8-10 minutes, where they were able to get the fire under control within about 15 minutes. However, it took a couple of hours to clean up and ensure the fire was completely out. Also assisting on the scene were the Kansas Fire Department, NBS Joint Fire District and Bascom EMS. No injuries were reported, however, the family living there has been displaced and is being helped by the American Red Cross to find new living arrangements for the time being. Bascom Fire Chief Chris Daniel said the fire origins were traced to the rear bedroom of the trailer where an electrical cord malfunction was discovered. Daniels said trailer fires can move pretty quickly, and he is pleased with the response from the departments that were on the scene.
