The Cocoon Turns the Town Purple

The Cocoon, Wood County's only comprehensive domestic and sexual violence agency, will be raising awareness about domestic violence throughout the month of October in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Purple ribbons will adorn lamp posts along Main Street in Bowling Green and businesses will display posters with information about domestic violence statistics, prevention and education techniques, and resources for those needing help escaping abuse. In addition, there will be several events held that will be open to the public: - Silent Witness Project Hosted by Bethany House, 6-8 p.m., Oct. 2 at the Franciscan Center at Lourdes College. Free and open to the public with donations accepted to support Bethany House. - Music Against Domestic Violence, 4-10 p.m. Oct. 7 at Howards Club H, Bowling Green. Live music, food, silent auction, 50/50. $10 Suggested donation at the door or $10 gift card to benefit The Cocoon. - Wood County Clothesline Project Hosted by The Cocoon and the Center for Women and Gender Equity, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 19 at the BGSU Student Oval.
