Heidelberg celebrates homecoming: ''Berg and Beyond'

Heidelberg University is to celebrate its homecoming this weekend, featuring a series of space-themed events entitled "Berg and Beyond." The Rhine River Cup game between Heidelberg and Otterbein is scheduled for Saturday. Students will be celebrating with events like an Among Us Party, the Homecoming Court Showcase and the Cosmic Celebration. Hundreds of alumni are also expected to return beginning Friday, according to a release provided by the university, to support students in their annual Greek Sing 2023 performances. Many Greek groups are celebrating anniversary years this year: the Philalethean Society and Euglossian Society are both celebrating 110 years, Kappa Psi Omega is celebrating 55 years, and Zeta Theta Psi is celebrating 10 years. Saturday will begin at noon, with the annual Homecoming Parade. Alumni can participate in the Alumni and Friends Pre-Game Scavenger Hunt. At 1 p.m. Saturday, the women's soccer team will play against Otterbein at the Hidden Valley Soccer Field. At 2 p.m., Alumni Band members will gather to rehearse at Hoernemann Stadium. Then at 3 p.m., "Greek Village" opens near the pond, where current students in sororities, fraternities and societies reconnect with alumni. At 5 p.m., the Rhine River Cup will begin as the Student Prince football team takes the field against Otterbein. The Heidelberg University Marching Band and its alumni members will take to the field to perform at half-time. Heidelberg will also crown its Homecoming royalty at halftime. In addition, Alumni Council will host its fall meeting Sunday morning, followed by the School of Music and Theatre's rededication of Ohl Concert Hall at 2 p.m., which also will feature the presentation of the inaugural Berg Bravo! Distinguished Career Awards.
