Board approves real estate agreement, proposals

TIFFIN --- At the Tiffin City Schools's Board of Education meeting Monday evening, the board approved a real estate purchase agreement and two proposals for work to be done to the track. The real estate purchase agreement is for 234 S. Monroe St., which is located directly next to the district's administration building 244 S. Monroe St. The purchase price of the property is $130,000, which is to be paid at closing, according to a copy of the purchase agreement. The closing will be on or before Dec. 8, 2023, according to the purchase agreement. The 2023 preliminary valuation of the Seneca County Auditor's Office for that property is $84,640. "I think it's a logical property for the district to look to acquire," said Superintendent Ben Richards. "We worked with the city law director to draw that (the real estate purchase agreement) up. …Even if the superintendent advisory committee were to look at a different location, I don't see us vacating that area. So, I think this makes that a really prudent purchase then." The board also voted to approve the Kiefer USA proposal for synthetic running track resurfacing. According to the proposal, the total lump sum price for the project is $332,130 for the following: Furnish and Install an 11mm Base Mat Rubberized System Paved in Place. Base Mat to be Installed at Track Oval, Chutes, High Jump and Event Runways. Apply 2 mm Black Champion Structural Spray Track Surface in Two Coats Surrounded Areas to be Covered with Plastic to Prevent Overspray or Damage During the Construction Process. Includes NFHS Painted Track Line Markings and Events as Needed. It also approved the Byrne & Jones Construction proposal for running track base work in the amount of $547,238 through TIP purchasing, according to the proposal.
