Lanicek tops SBC River volleyball list

Calvert's Caroline Lanicek claimed the Most Outstanding Performer in the River Division and 11 area players in two of the conference's divisions finished as first-teamers when the Sandusky Bay Conference released its all-conference volleyball list Tuesday.Lanicek, a senior hitter, was one of four Senecas to earn first-team honors in the SBC River Division, joining classmates Olivia Miller at setter, Camryn Shook at hitter and Alli Porter at hitter. Lanicek, Miller and Shook were also unanimous selections.Other local first-teamers included Old Fort junior hitter Ryen Smith, Hopewell-Loudon senior hitter Kendall Eilrich, Lakota freshman hitter Brooklyn Beard and New Riegel senior hitter Katie Dryfuse. Smith was another unanimous choice.The Danbury duo of junior libero Maci Brown and senior hitter Lia Brown rounded out the first team.Locals on the second team were Old Fort senior setter Audra Miller and junior hitter Leix Bowman, Hopewell-Loudon senior hitter Alayna Jones, and Lakota senior hitter Cassidy Foos and junior hitter Riley King.Fremont St. Joe senior libero Catie Wolf, sophomore hitter Kayla Hessick and junior hitter Emma Kelbley, and Danbury senior hitter Maggie Thompson filled out the second team.The honorable mention list included the area's Lakota senior setter Emma Gregg, Calvert senior libero Cecilia Palm, sophomore hitter Emily Miller and freshman hitter Bryn Meyer, Old Fort senior hitters Madi Blankenship and Olivia Abdoo, Hopewell-Loudon junior hitter Olivia Bishop and New Riegel senior hitter Olivia Schalk.Woodmore senior hitter Cameran Quisno was another honorable mention player.In the Lake Division, Clyde junior setter DeLani Durst and the Columbian duo of sophomore hitter Kaela Jenkins and junior hitter Ella Kerschner earned first-team status.Norwalk junior Lucy Schlotterer captured the most outstanding performer award and was a unanimous first-team pick.Norwalk junior libero Mac Wineman and Perkins sophomore hitter Ferrell Coleman completed the first team.Locals on the second team included Bellevue senior libero Bailey Fisher and junior hitter Brooke Brown, and Clyde senior hitter Cora Liskai and junior hitter Lily Ball.Norwalk senior setter Ava Tyler and freshman hitter Emma Gebhardt filled out the second team.Area athletes on the honorable mention list included Columbian freshman setter Avary Brown and sophomore libero Emma Daugherty, Bellevue junior hitter Lila Krall and freshman hitter Finley LaPata,m and Clyde junior hitter Lauren Harrah.Perkins senior hitter Gabby Zokle and Sandusky junior hitter Rakiya Collier rounded out the honorable mention players.No area teams competed in the Bay Division.
